question re: prayer

Hello, ladies! I have been "lurking" here for a while and I like what I see! It's great to come to gather and receive each other as family. What a blessing. I post everyday on another support group but am leaning more and more towards posting somewhere here where folks will respect and understand the fact that I try to look at everything through heaven's eyes.

I have a question about prayer request. This was brought up during a recent Bible study and it's just something that I hadn't thought about before. I guess I should have but fortunately, you're never too old to learn! :D

Do you believe that God sees prayer requests on different levels or all prayer requests on the same level? For example, is my whacked out truck just as important to him as my friend's mom who is having tests done on her heart? Our Bible study leader stated that all prayer requests are just prayer request. Just like all sin is sin-there are no big or little sins to God. We are the ones who categorize one request as more important than others. I just wondered what other believers thought about this topic.

After having thought about it, I do believe that God sees everything the same. What is important to me, no matter how unimportant it might be to someone else, is important to God. What do you think, ladies? Thanks!

Prayer

ROMANS 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. New International Version

ROMANS 8:28 And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans. The Living Way Bible

Because we are human we ask specific things...this is fine...because He is God, He sees the ENTIRE picture.... as you pray for a repaired truck...He may be working on leading you towards a better job...who knows?

Thank GOD for the UNANSWERED PRAYER !

YOU are important to God....that is really what is important in our prayers to Him.

When I find myself trying "to convince" God what I want/need...I try to switch my prayers back to HIS WILL FOR ME!

I hope this helps and doesn't confuse you ;) ...

Prayers, Gary

Good morning, Gary

Thanks for responding. You didn't confuse me at all. Romans 8:28 is one of my favorite scriptures. I'm very strong in my faith and committed to whatever God would have for me. I just like to hear other believers opinions. I always enjoy a good theological discussion. I'm a preacher's kid and for a long time I rode the coat tails of my parents. I was saved, don't get me wrong, but I always kind of thought of God as my parent's God. It wasn't personal yet. Then, while dealing w/a difficult marriage and a sticky divorce, (Biblical reasons), God became very, very personal to me. Because of that, I'm discovering things about God for myself instead of just taking someone else's word for it, you know what I mean? So, anything that makes me stretch my faith is a good thing.

And you are right, thank the Lord for unanswered prayers! :)

God bless.

talking to my father

:smug: I talk to my father about everything. thats is all prayer is. I am his child and he created me so we could have a relationship. In fact if I don't ask
him what to do. I usually end up doing something I regret. When he tells me no I am now mature enough to understand it is for my own good. when he says wait I know the timing is not right. So yea it is a cool relationship. When I started to have health problems. I asked my Father to heal me. He didn't boy was I upset but he did lead me to stop eating junk and lose weight. Then he has given me the strenght to do so. Guess what happen when I lost the first ten pounds and started to eat healthy. My health improved. So yes take all your concerns to your father he is a loving father, who yes he does discipline us for our own good. enjoy the relationship
God is good all the time

Sounds like me. When I asked God to heal me of depression and He said "no" I was really upset. Took me a while to get over it and decide to keep following Him even if He won't give me everything I want.
