When you do decide to purchase your Bible, I would recommend a parallel Bible. The King James Version is often hard for the new believer/new babe/rededicater to understand. I rededicated my life to Christ in 2004 after some serious hardships and I bought a KJV Bible after many studies I still found some scriptures hard to understand. I now have several different versions of the Bible. You can also start with Proverbs and read one each day there are 31. There's also Proverbs 31 ministries, you can google and get words of inspiration daily. Just my 2 cents. Be Blessed and Remember to always be a Blessing :) .

LOVE2B150 ~ I totally agree with you too -- the bible I liked to read the most when I was a newly dedicated Christian is called "THE GOOD NEWS BIBLE" ... and it is very easy to understand with lots of headings and helps. I would recommend that version to all new and renewed believers. I bought one for my husband to read, as my old one fell apart with so much use.
As I got older and more matour ;) I really enjoyed the "AMERICAN STANDARD VERSION" best (and there is a newer Revised American Standard Version as well). Honestly, I have probably a dozen different versions in my home and many more on my computer bible programs available to me also. What I now like about the way the original King James Bible and the Authorized 1611 versions is the style they were written in. They are so poetic (and I am a poet and songwriter myself) and they even sound like William Shakespeare himself had a hand in there somewhere. I was not surprised to find out recently that indeed William was alive and well and living/working in England during the time the King commissioned that bible version. There is also a newer revised version of the King James Bible available today too. :D |

There are many out there that are good. My church uses the New International Version text so the one parallel Bible I use the most at home has The Living Way text opposite of it. These happen to be the text that I understand and enjoy the most. I used to have one that had both those versions AND also The New King James and American Revised Standard...it was huge! I imagine you can google passages from these online to check out then see which text you like better. The Living Way bible is a great Bible to start reading in if you have not done so yet. |
My Comparative Bible Study (or parallel bible) was published by ZONDERVAN of Grand Rapids, Michigan, 49530; and I bought it through a book club.
It has four bible versions: The King James; the new American Standard; new International; and Amplified version. I suppose there are some others out there. Try Amazon or their half.com or even eBay.com for a good price (as they can be expensive). :D |

A very nice easy to read Bible. As you grow you will want to add more of a study Bible to your library but I really recommend this one for those just beginning their study. |
