Eve praying for you and your husband, here in Texas, I agree with Onami and Rosebud, I can see God at work in your life now.

Let you light shine and your DH will see the changes in you and what the Lord has done for you and you'll be surprised. In due season. So true Onami!

EZMONEY 07-24-2010 10:37 PM

Welcome ONAMI :)

EVELHAELF and welcome to you! Although I am sorry it is under these sad circumstances  However...how :carrot: exciting :carrot: you are seeking His love and help! I have read your post and followed on your relationship. All I can say is you are on the right track and in the right place. We will start our prayers as you begin this new journey. Asking for God to help you be the wife He wants you to be is a great step...and praying for your husband to feel God's presence is wonderful.

I could talk forever on this subject of yours...been there done that (although different circumstances)...but as we go through this remember this...You can only do what you can do...if you follow Jesus...I can swear to you it will all turn out all-right....in God's time...for you

BARGOO I sent prayers up this morning

This week our sermon was on prayer, the following was included in our bulletin...I think it fits here for us.

When the Lord Jesus taught us to pray, saying, "Our Father who art in heaven," he was not giving some secret formula or magic words. He taught us to pray NOT as, "If you don't, God will withhold His blessings." Martin Luther reminds us: "God's name is holy in itself, His kingdom comes all by itself, His will is done, and He gives daily bread to everyone without our prayer." We are to pray because God freely gives us His Word, His kingdom, His grace, and our daily bread. This prayer helps us to realize and acknowledge His gifts. Saint Paul warns that there are all sorts of influences that cause us to believe we're missing something unless we discover some secret wisdom. Paul convinces us that in Christ we have everything we need for life and salvation. When the eyes of faith behold Jesus, when we fix our attention on Him, he guards us and keeps us close so that nothing can ever entice us away or separate us from Him.

Pastor reminded us that we have a personal relationship with Christ as believers, keep your prayers personal with Him. He is Our Father :) Pastor also reminded us that our earthy fathers often fail...and fail us...just as we have done...remember our Father in Heaven will never do that to us :)

Regarding prayer -

In the Large Catechism we find the following: "...But because he is God, he claims the honor of giving far more abundantly and liberally than anyone can comprehend---like an eternal, inexhaustible fountain which, the more it gushes forth and overflows, the more it continues to give."

"Every one that asketh receiveth." - Matt. 7:8

Thank you EZ andJoJo :hug: nice reads before logging-off :)

EveLHaelf 07-27-2010 02:33 PM

Thanks EZ and jojo! Very interesting indeed.

Today is my first appointment with a therapist that specializes in eating disorders. I am going there to seek help with my emotional eating problem because I finally realize I can't get better just with sheer will power. I need tools. I really hope this person will be able to help me!

Hope everyone has a nice day. :)

I wanted to write and thank all of you for your prayers. I just returned from having the mammogram and ultrasound the doctor wanted done as a result of the physical he did over a week ago. Praise God everything is normal.

I don't say much here but you are all in my prayers.

Thanks again.

Justwant2Bhealthy 07-27-2010 08:46 PM

THAT'S GREAT NEWS, TRISH ~ was sending up prayers for you that you would have peace during your tests. This reminds me that we need to TRUST GOD as much as we possibly can during these times (I am trying to do the same thing by singing up a storm of praises today). ;)

UPDATE ~ I now have a consult on August 3rd @ 4:00 pm regarding the colonoscopy with the doctor who will perform the procedure. My DH will be seeing the same doctor about his memory problems that same day as well. Our doctors here have to wear many hats ...

Yes, GARY & JOJO ~ thanks for those prayer bits; yes, GOD knows what our need is before we ask Him (Matthew 6:8), so that should give us more confidence to "come boldly to the throne of grace when we need help." (Hebrews 4:16) :D

EVE ~ sending up prayers for you that your counselling will help; let us know what they say ... that would be interesting to hear about too. :)

^PRAYERS^ continue for you and yours ...

pattygirl63 07-28-2010 12:27 AM

Thank you Gary and JoJo. I appreciate you sharing the prayer tidbits. I spent years trying to be good enough trying to please God. The best day was when I heard a Pastor say that what God really wants from me is a Relationship. Doesn't mean I'm not to do my best to please Him, but realizing the importance of my relationship with Him has made a big difference in my life. Gave my Christian life a whole new and wonderful meaning.

Eye I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. I watched my 2nd husband's Mother live with her husband and love him. I just couldn't understand why she stayed with him and put up with the things he did. He was unfaithful to her. All three of them are in heaven today. She won her husband to the Lord by her love and example to him. I pray God will show you what you are to do. Also pray you find the help you need from the therapist.

Rosebud I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. I pray for a good report for you both.

Praying for Jennifer and others here.

Onederchic 07-29-2010 01:05 PM

Prayers going out for all requested
