Christmas Eve Mid-week Boost
Christmas Eve Midweek Boost
For nothing is impossible with God
Luke 1:38
IMMANUEL – GOD WITH US
Well, its here – Christmas Eve, finally!
I am sure there were times when you were not sure it would ever arrive, or, if everything that needed to be done would get done, whew! It was close:
The house is decorated, the tree is trimmed, the lights are up, the gifts are wrapped,
the cards are mailed and the carols are playing.
We are totally prepared for Christmas – or are we?
Pastor spoke this weekend about moving from confusion to faith. How, we, like Mary, should be prepared for God to use us in unexpected times, places, and ways: Mary was prepared when God used her to make a difference. She did not panic, moved past her confusion and doubt by replying to the angel, “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said” BibleGateway.com - Passage Lookup: Luke 1:26-38
Like Mary, we can leave our confusion, troubles, and fears behind when unexpected things happen in our life –
We can move forward trusting God even when we do not know how the future will turn out -- When we trust God in uncertain times our faith grows.
Relationships are built on trust and God wants us to learn to trust Him.
He will allow all kinds of problems in our lives so we can learn that He is reliable all the time.
God is reliable in every situation.
He can be counted on to be faithful. As we go through problems and the unexpected, we learn to trust God and realize - as He pulls us through each one of them --that is another area we can trust God.
One way to be prepared - as we celebrate tonight and tomorrow the birth of our Lord and Savior and the free gift of Salvation He gave us, is to focus on:
What we give back – not on what we get this Christmas
When the unexpected happens in our lives, it is important to realize that God is calling us and giving us opportunities to use His strength and gifts in our lives to carry out His will and serve His people. He did in the lives of Mary & Joseph, Elizabeth & Zechariah, and the peoples of the Old and New Testaments.
Our Faith Really Grows When We Recognize That
"Nothing is Impossible With God."
Keep your faith in Christ strong through Word and Sacrament so you can be ready for the unexpected to happen ,and like Mary, we need not be troubled or afraid - but move forward using the gifts and abilities God has given us. This Christmas, and all year, let us use the gifts God has given us and GIVE to others when the unexpected happens, let's make a difference!
Be prepared to help, encourage, and lift up all whom we come in contact with.
Alleluia! Christ is born!
AMEN
