I participated in a 5K

I came in DEAD last...lol I am very happy I completed it though. 2 freinds talked me in to do this 5k, 1 friend runs, she came in 2nd in her age group so we are very proud of her. My other friend just had a baby 4 months ago, so with her pushing a stroller with 2 kids in it and my broken toe(been 4 weeks) we decided to walk together. Its not like either of us are in great physical shape to start with but we are working on it. I think we did great, we completed it, 100%. The race went to a certain point, then you turned around and went back. Once everyone was past us, I told my friend that we could turn around there, and no one would no but she wouldnt let us and I am glad. The guy that won did it in a little over 17 min, is that amazing or what? Oh, and by the time we got to back, the time clock had been taken down, the tables were broke down, like everyone was about gone...lol But our friend that that ran it, she waited, she wouldnt leave with out seeing us finish. Anyways, it was great fun and I will be doing another in Jan.

Congrats! That's a great accomplishment! If you're not careful, you'll be inspiring those of us who hate to exercise to get out and do it too!

CONGRATS TO YOU, WILLOW ~ for finishing up that 5K; I did some this year and was surprised that I could do it, but I had to break it up into 1-3 days, but I was happy with that. I look forward to the summer, when I can work my way up and someday do the 5K all at once.

What are some average times for a 5K? I can definitely run that far but may be on the slow side! I was invited to run one just yesterday but declined. Mentally I am not sure I am ready for that whole scene. Does that even make sense?

I've only run one (on 3FC), and I timed myself at 38 minutes at the 3 mile mark (not 3.1). That's an average 12:30 mile. Not fast. But not the slowest either. I actually ran my best mile (12:00) last.

Thanks, Julie. I am going to time myself soon just to see what I am running. I imagine it's in that same neighborhood.
