HI FOLKS ~ wow, busy around here that's for sure. We had good weather here today: some sun and clouds and not too hot. DH went to help Dad finish the last of the shingles on his cottage and ... drum roll please ... they even started the foundation of our cottage today ... YAAHOOOO!!!

TARA ~ this is a nice supportive group. I would like to add that giving your DD a hug, so that she doesn't think you are angry with HER, just the mistake; the other reason is so that she doesn't hurt herself too badly. Some children are just more sensitive than others and take reprimands much harder. Reassuring her that you love her, and that you can work together at correcting mistakes calmly and quickly can go a long way to soothe her fears (like leaving a bed becuz they don't want to be alone). When I was very little, sometimes, I didn't understand why my mother said "NO" to things and that would hurt my feelings.

Children's long-term memory isn't fully formed until around 10 y/o, so they have to be reminded hundreds of times. This takes patience on the parents part: having to repeat things, but that's how they learn. You could even have a special code word as a reminder, so that things don't get out of control for her. For anger for something they want, maybe using distraction towards another option, would help calm her down ie you can't have candy right now, but here's a nice apple or popsicle instead.

KATY ~ you'll like this group and find much inspiration here too.

COUNTING ~ thanks, just stayed home today; needed to rest. We almost have everything done; but the barter is a good one indeed.

LOVINMOM ~ I do both crossword and word search most often, but I do have some jigsaw ones here and a couple of books with mixed word puzzles (one book is all biblical).

CANDY ~ thanks, my feet are much better today; we got lots done yesterday.

SUE ~ I just made some rhubarb conserve that tastes just like jam: 3-4 cups rhubarb + 1 cup strawberries + 1/2 cup sugar + 1/4 cup water and just simmer-boiled it until rhubarb was soft. Removed from heat and added one sweetener. Then I put a generous 1/4 cup in small containers and put in freezer. It is just yummy. The first batch I mixed 3/4 cup each blueberries and raspberries + 1-1/2 cups rhubarb + 1/4 cup water and sugar, then added a sweetener to taste later as well.
These are both nice on toast or biscuits (we eat 100% whole wheat).

TRISH ~ Prayers for you, your church, and your church family; GOD would like this problem to be resolved as quickly as possible, I'm sure ...

HELLO TO SHY and MCMOMMY and GARY ... and to all our MIA's.

Take good care, your fellow encourager ROSEBUD^^PRAYERS^^ continue for all ...

Justwant2Bhealthy, that's awesome that they started the foundation of your cottage. Our weather was NASTY...rain, rain, and rain...
Thank you for your advice on my DD's anger management. It really helps me a lot to learn from other moms who have already been there.

Laurie 2.5 hours?! wow.. I helped one of my friend with painting awhile ago and did maybe about an hour..and my arms were sore. Well, that's a great arm work out for you, right there! =)

Candy It's raining pretty hard here today... but like you said, at least the trees are getting some water.

katyeloo You are right. Through God, all things are possible and we are here to help you through it, too.

CCmomof5How did it go with the kids? Did you get to go to park with them today or did it rain?

lovnmom Strawberries... I used to LOVE them and then for some reason, stopped eating them...and now that they are pretty cheap, I bought them, froze some, and eating them with my DD... her after nap snack..my breakfast...snack for at work.... and frozen ones for my breakfast smoothies. YUMMY

Trish, Angie and I get plenty of sleep! But then we are back in the room before the clubs even open! We live close enough...about a 4.5 hour drive, that we go as often as we want really. We usually get up around 4-5 as usual, take off and get breakfast about half-way. We are always in Vegas before noon. We gamble a little, drink and eat a little, get our room, shower and rest a little, go for dinner and gamble a little. Get up early and do breakfast, walk around the casinos and go to the pool or gym/spa and hang out, have lunch (usually at Harrah's in Toby Keith's bar) go to the room for a nap then out for dinner/show and more gambling and drinking (for me) then back to the room by around midnight.Up around 5am, take off and get breakfast about 150 miles later, home before noon. Boring!...I suppose if we were younger and couldn't go as often as we do...we would be up all night! The city NEVER sleeps!! It is a fun place to go to...we not really gamble much at all...but we enjoy the shops and the entertainment.

Just a quick fly by. As you can see it is after midnight and I am finally done for the day lol. Taking me longer than usual to get things done because I don't want to mess with the shoulders or back or knees. So, it is nice and easy but get things done. I am down to one side of a sheet of paper from a steno pad then I am done lol. One of the fun things I did today was go into the crawl space ( why do they call the attic a crawl space when it is only 5 foot high. Heck I can walk in the thing no problem lol. Anyway, I we never use the area but it sure does get dusty and have spider webs and cob webs. I got it all cleaned out today. The kids decided they should be getting paid of all this extra work. Today they swept the floors and helped me clean 3 windows lol. I know, I work them like slave labor. I said ok how much, they said 5 bucks each. Now 5 bucks isn't much but that isn't the point. I sure didn't get paid when I was a kid that was just being part of the household so I don't believe in paying kids to be part of the household. I gave them the money. BUT, when pizza arrived they didn't get any. I said oh no, this pizza is for a days work well done and you wanted money so have fun with it. lol, they talk amongst them selfs and gave me the money back and ate the pizza. Kids get paid for everything these days. I really truly think they need to understand we do things all our lives that we don't get paid for. Think about it, how many house wifes get paid what they are worth for all they do?

Shy Moment, That's funny about pizza but awesome! Go mom! =) I'm trying to start early with my DD and have her put her dishes in the sink...and ask her for help with putting her toys away and stuff. When she feels like it, she even puts our dishes in the sink. The only time I don't want her help is when folding laundry... Imagine 2.5 yr old girl trying to fold laundry. lol.

Hello all...weigh in was okay. I lost 2.2 lbs . I wasn't completely faithful to the program so I hope for an even bigger loss this upcoming week...I hope that all are well...we are headed to NY to visit my inlaws...Hopefully Allie will do well on the 6 hour ride...I am sure Nate will be fine with his Thomas dvds...Yes, he just loves them and loves to collect those take along trains...they are our current potty incentive. It sounds like all are doing well and I will continue to be in prayer for those in need- physically, spiritually, whatever...Take care all! Erin

Laurie~ Sounds like you need a long hot shower and then a nap. :-) Thats what i always do after lots of painting. I always seem to have lots in my hair too. Hope thats not the case with you.

Rosebud~ YAY!!! for getting the foundation started. I bet you are just thrilled. The recipie you shared with Sue sounds YUMMY. I like strawberry and rhubarb spread together. Never made it homemade though i buy the strawberry rhubarb fruit spread from tastefully simple.

ShyMoment~ Sounds like you had lots of chores to do. But it feels great when you get that done knowing it will stay clean for a while. And that is HILARIOUS what you did about the pizza and money to the kids. Good lesson learned i think. Oh and your comment about housewifes/stay at home moms is funny uou bring that up. I was watching the tyra show the other day and it was talking about salary and said that if i stay at home mom got paid for all her work in a year she would make between $137,000 and $178,000! Holy moly that is a lot. And to think they do it all because they love theirs kids and hubbys. Well some of them i suppose.

Taragettingthin~ When my GodSon was about that age he LOVED to fold clothes. I let him fold the dish towels and hand towels. Or let him fold his own underwear. I think its great that she will help and not cry every time.

Mcmommy~ Good luck on the car ride. I think everything will go well. I hope you have a good time visiting the inlaws and getting a little vacation away from home. And good job on the loss. 2.2 lbs gone is way better than none

Boring day for me today. Im at work all by my lonesome and there isnt too much business goin on so i suppose I shall just stand here all day. When i get off im headed to my 7:30 yoga class. I so need it, im getting a little stiff. Wont be on tomorrow so everyone have a good friday. Im going to the zoo with my boyfriends sister and 2 kids so it should be fun. Im hoping that it doenst start raining until we leave. Our zoo if pretty darn big and if it starts raining while we are in the back we are pretty much outta luck. There are lots of indoor buildings but a 2.5 yr old and a 18mo old wont be too thrilled with sitting inside one area. Happy Friday

Hi, Everyone!

Seems so long since I've posted-I've been keeping up with you all and sending up prayers and praises as I've read your posts the last couple weeks, but just didn't have enough time to write in (we found that wi-fi connections in hotels are not very reliable-lol!)

We had a great vacation/visit to the oldest DS and family in Idaho! Saw God's incredible creation in many places along the way-Black Hills, Yellowstone, Craters of the Moon, Badlands-and just praised God for all that He gave us. I think I wrote before about the rainbows in the Black Hills-it truly was a promise from God- absolutely NO RAIN fell on our town in the 2 weeks while we were away! Our basement is almost dry. We tore out the carpets when we got home and will just put down area rugs later. Fortunately, none of the carpets were nice (they were here when we moved in and more than ready to go!).

We did a lot of walking and swimming on our trip. In Craters of the Moon, we hiked up a cinder cone 2/10ths of a mile to the top, which doesn't seem far, but it was almost 15% grade! I couldn't believe I made it, but made the kids take pics to prove it! We hiked a lot of trails in Yellowstone and swam with the grandkids at the hotel, so even though we ended up eating fast food the whole trip, I lost 2 pounds! Yep, now I'm convinced-I've got to exercise more often! Even my back held out and I'm down to only 600mg ibuprofen a day instead of the 1800mg I was taking before the PT and trip.

I do have to say that our 2yo and 2 month old granddaughters are the cutest we have ever seen! And, our step-grandson and -granddaughter are sweet and helpful and we just pray for blessings for them all. Oldest DS needs to find a permanent job, which has been very hard for him-he's working temporarily for a crop duster right now.

We did what we could as parents and grandparents to help them out a bit while we were there and then, when we got home, we were blessed right back with some unexpected money. I'm just finding it amazing the way God works in my life sometimes. We were even blessed with a flat tire on the trip-it happened right in DS's driveway NOT on one of Yellowstone's curving mountain roads!

Sorry I'm going on so long, but hope you are all having a great day! I pray that God will show you all kinds of blessings, big and small, in everything you do each day. You're all in my prayers.

Editing because I forgot something important! Middle DS (16yo) leaves Saturday am for EFCA Youth Group conference (Challenge) in Salt Lake City. They will be gone a week and are taking a charter bus as there are 29 youth and 6 sponsors going. Please pray for their safety (I'm always fearful while they are on road trips) and for the Spirit of God to work in their lives and in the lives of everyone who attends and who they witness to during this conference and mission opportunity.

A quick fly-by. More painting tonight - I'm surprised the shoulders held up for another 2.5 hours

I put on a head scarf when I paint. I learned the hard way - paint used to coat my hair. Something about being 50+ - you learn a few tricks along the way

I read everyone's posts and prayers are continuing for all.

I am going to try to get more painting done tomorrow - and then a physical in the afternoon. Not a big deal for most folk - but for me - it is. I HATE - absolutely HATE going to the dr. I do it only under extreme circumstances. I am incredibly blessed to come from healthy stock and I was raised that you only go to the dr. when something is wrong. And - to be incredibly honest, being overweight - I avoided going so that I didn't have to hear the "speech". Childish and probably selfish - but true.
So, after 10 years, I promised myself - that if I got near goal - I would kick my behind and make an appointment for a physical. Which I did and is tomorrow. Keep me in your prayers - stupid - but I am nervous about going.

Confession over.
Hope you all had a wonderful day - Blessings for all - and prayers ascending

countingdown, That sounds like a lot of work. I'm putting off all home improvements of even the easy kind until baseball season is over. Have a great day! I too am from healthy stock and avoid the dr at all cost. You are in my prayers for strength and good health. God bless!

Rosebud, So happy for all the progress on your cottage. Have a great day!

Tara, Glad you and your DD are finding happiness in the red berry too!

Gary, That doesn't sound boring at all. It sounds like a terrific get away with your best gal!!

Rennie , Now I understand about the steno pad. I was confused over at the
40's. Keep teaching them kids old lessons. They'll be better for it and you know it. Have a great day!

Erin, I think 2.2 pounds is awesome. YGG!

Candykisses, Have a great time at the zoo!

ronni62, Your vacation sounds just wonderful. I'm happy everything went so well and you returned to only minor flood damages. My prayers will be with your son and his group.

My DH runs a family business with his parents, but also works a full time job elsewhere. Mostly so we have health insurance. He has been promoted to a new position and we are very excited, but with the promotion he is now working 4 - 10 hour days compared to 3 - 12 hour days. This job requires him to leave home at 12am. He's very nervous about making the change to rising so early the extra day a week and being gone from the family business the extra day. Please keep him and our family in your prayers as we go through this transition. Thanks for your support.
Kristi

Hi All!

Well my day with all the yahoos was okay, we did get to the park but it was so hot and humid they only played for about 45 min and they were worn out. They played here for a couple of hours while I paid bills and that was not pleasant. My little man (Mr. Destruction) was being a horses behind. He kept telling them he was in charge and getting them to take off and leave lil Sis behind and she was crying and miserable cause no one wanted to play with her. I was not a happy momma, so I threatened him with a spanking and the rest of the day in bed, alone. He was better but that boy could test the patience of JOB. Yesterday, I worked in the church office from 9-3, I was only supposed to be there until noon but things happen and well... So when I got home all the kids were in a tizzy because Mr. D had been a booger all day, he was upset cause he thought he should be allowed to go to the pond to fish without anyones permission, needlesstosay, he got a spanking. I didn't get anything done I needed to get done and I was physically beat down, I've felt that way all week. Hopefully the weekend has better things in store for me.

EZ, I don't think it sounds boring, sounds like a good time and you know my experience has been that if I was younger and going to do the things I do now, I would probably just get myself into trouble.

Shy, Great lesson for the kids, we have had a few talks like that here with all my kids. If I do this can I get paid, my response is I do pay you, you got to eat breakfast didn't you, you had clothes to put on this morning didn't you, etc... they hate that, I think its funny. If I would ever have asked my parents to pay me for work around the house my dad would not have blinked and eye and would have knocked me into the middle of next week. I had a less than pleasant childhood, but I still learned a lot.

Tara, My 5 yr old always wants to help, she loves to do dishes and wants to help fold laundry, I have to supervise and many times redo her work, but she thinks she's really helping.

Ronni, That was an awesome family visit! God shows up sometimes when we least expect Him to.

Counting, Great job with the painting, it took me forever to get the boys rooms in the basement painted because my back and neck were giving me such fits. I don't like to go to the Dr. either, we were the same way when I was a kid, if you weren't dying, you didn't need to go. I don't like to go much because I don't like to get weighed either, kinda silly I guess.

Need to go, things at church are still kinda up in the air, we have no plans for anyone to teach in July, and its just around the corner. I think it will work out though, I have faith that God is moving. I have to go sing at a former pastors church next weekend, I kinda feel like I need to be at ours to stay in the loop of whats going on but I've committed to leading worship elsewhere.
Thanks for your prayers, prayer is whats getting me through life in general right now, so much going on and I sometimes feel like I'm spinning through the days. Thanks, Trish

Posting at same time, Kristi, prayers for you and family.

Have a big BBQ here tomorrow...was supposed to be nephew's BIG DAy but since his effort was ZERO to finish high school no day for him, just turned it into our monthy FAMILY DINNER so nothing changes except he doesn't have friends over....should be a lot of fun!

I will catch up tonight or tomorrow! Gary

HELLO EVERYONE ~ been very busy lately getting ready for our holiday time with family. Got lots done; but am getting lots of exercise which is what I really believe I need more than anything as my eating is pretty good lately (keepin' on plan well).

Will keep everyone in my prayers for their requests as per usual. Sorry to hear about some folks having to work two jobs just to maintain; that sounds sad to me. I am always asking GOD to give me guidance and wisdom in the finance area, and he keeps coming through for us: PTL!.

DH planted a couple of LILAC BUSHES today on our lot; have always been my favorite flowers (got a light purple one for the backyard and a pink/mauve one for the front). DH also put in some more foundation bricks today as well while I tidied up Dad's place for him (mostly sweeping).

We'll be busy over the next week or so with company; having fun is our goal. MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL WITH HIS PEACE AND GRACE IN YOUR LIVES THIS WEEK! Take good care ... your fellow encourager ROSEBUD^^PRAYERS^^ continue for all ...

ccmomof5, Praying your weekend goes better for you. Try to relax into your weekend away from the hub bub and just enjoy leading worship elsewhere. I know, easier said than done.

Gary, Have a great BBQ!!

Rosebud, Enjoy your weekend.

I got busy yesterday and got my housework done, so I'm planning to take it easy today. I have a few things to get together for the Children's Sermon tomorrow, but it shouldn't take too long.
Have a terrific Sat. You're in my prayers.

My child hood was the lesson of hard knocks too lol. You know what I sure became a good person. Look at what " do not hit your children " had done for our kids. We have a whole generation of kids ( not all of them of course ) who only care about theme selfs. Think everything is throw away including relationships and don't do a thing they aren't rewarded for. I think I came out ok lol.
