C25K Runners
 
Just checking in to see of there are any C25K runners here (I know there are some). Was just wondering:

1.) What week/day are you on?
2.) Are you repeating a week?
3.) How do you feel?
4.) Will you move on next week?
5.) Tell us your thoughts.
6.) Are you taking extra time off to recover?
7.) Do you have any advice for anyone thinking about starting?

I am just on W1D3. Everything is going pretty well. I am sore tonight, but that's my own fault, I went way farther than I should have. Do you adhere to the times that the training program suggests?

Yes, come and join in on the "advice on becoming a runner" thread. It started as advice and has now moved on to general chat about how we are all doing (although we still ask and offer advice as well). There are several people just starting out as well so you can have some great advice as you progress.

To answer some of your questions:

Quite a few people repeat weeks and that is fine

You will be amazed at how quickly you progress to running for longer times or distances, but for those of us still on the C25K I wouldn't say it gets easy. You are always pushing yourself to run for just that bit longer. It is great when you can reach that 20minute mark - and you will.

Several people have taken time off running to recover from injuries, and at least one person went back a few weeks because they think they progressed too soon.

Congratulations on completing your first week. Keep on running :)

HadEnough: I second (or third) you joining us over on the forum given above!

For myself, I am on Wk7D2 which is running a continual 25 minutes each session for all three days. I modified Day 1, but will try to finish the full 25 tonight. At week 4, due to vacation and later to get my endurance and courage up, I repeated weeks 4,5, and 6. I will probably not repeat any more since from here on out it is continual running. I may have to modify and stretch out the weeks leading to graduation day, but my goal is to run 3 miles in 30 minutes before I call myself a graduate.

Again, as Pachy stated, you amaze yourself with how quickly you progress through each week. Some days, or even weeks, tend to mess with your head, but I believe it all has a purpose in the end to make you a better runner. Just push through it.

You're finishing the first week, so you probably already know the answer to starting: commitment to a program and then discipline as you tackle each day's training. You may have to modify and/or repeat weeks, but if you do what you can do and push a little harder each time - you will get there! And I can't describe the emotion of when you realize that you are a runner.

And don't forget the basics: good pair of running shoes! They'll be worth the money you invest.
