Hi there, Losingit! I can highly recommend the Omron HJ-112. I got it last week and am absolutely loving it! Even started a discussion about it here ----> I Love My New Pedometer! .

As far as how many steps to take, I'm trying to go for the Challenge (there's a thread about it here ----> Week Three -- Steppin' Up To Fitness Challenge ). IIRC that's also the President's Challenge, 10,000 steps a day.

So far, I've only gone over 10k once, but I'm hoping to see more and more 10K days as time goes on.

Whatever you decide, good luck and have fun!

Lena, thanks for showing your thread about loving your pedometer. I didn't realize they were that affordable! Do you think wearing a pedometer makes you WANT to take more steps, like stairs instead of elevators? I'd love to get one if that's the case. I imagine it's a visible reminder and motivator!

Yes, indeed, I do. Even though the pedometer isn't heavy, knowing it's there is a great reminder. And makes it fun -- it's like a little reward to see how many steps I've taken!

Didn't break 10K today, but I can try again tomorrow! Can't wait until Spring when I can see how many steps I take on the golf course! Definitely won't be taking a cart this year!
