Fitday and Elliptical
Where do I find Elliptical on Fitday?? Help!
|
I would like to know if anyone has found it also. I haven't been able to find it so I usually substitue something else and try to adjust the time spent to match the calories the elliptical said I burned. This probably isn't the right thing to do....but what else can you do?

Well, in home PC version, you can add a custom exercise much in the same way that you can add a custom food. It's a nice feature, but it might not be worth the $20 alone to you to do, I don't know.
In the online version, it seems to me that the closest one can get is either "Health club exercise, general" which is calculated at 5 calories per minute, or perhaps "Stair-treadmill ergometer, general", which is given at 6 calories per minute. I think that if you have an idea of how many calories per minute you are really burning (and finding this might be harder than you think, calorie counters on machines tend to way overestimate the calories they burn) your best best would be to search until you found any random exercise that has the same value. Using an elliptical is not very much like "Rowing, stationary, 200 W, very vigorous effort", but if you are in fact burning off the 12 calories a minute this exercise computes at, then does it matter how the exercise is labled? |
I use stair/treadmill, but I do think the calorie count is low for it. It's under conditioning exercise.

There was another post on this same question in Support a few weeks ago. Sadly I can't remember how to make a link, but I can tell you it was started by Liminfan(?) on Feb 2 and was called Another Fitday Question... I think. In essence, IIRC the consensus was you need to find an activity that approximates the elliptical in effort and calorie expenditure and use that in your log.
Let me see if I can figure out how to make a linky... :): Another Fitday Question... Took me 6 times to get it right, but there it is -- a clicky! |
I use ski machine which is under conditioning. It is pretty close to what my elliptical says.
