Yes, it does make you feel a lot better when you get used to walking. and LOL when I am tired I pretend my feet are that little automated icon LOL; it actually HELPS

LadyFirelyght 03-03-2006 09:09 PM

I really LOVE this pedometer. I've been using it for 6 days now and love love LOVE it. I dropped it in Target the other day, though, and it got a big scratch across the front :( I've started wearing it on my bra (in the middle), but unfortunately that won't work for too much longer (it really doesn't work right now, but I pretend it does  )

I'm so glad you like it, Lydia. I'm on week 3 and liking it more every day. And stepping more, too! My first day I don't think I even broke 4,000. And I just KNEW I was walking all over the place .

Anyway, glad you're liking it! Keep on steppin!

LadyFirelyght 03-03-2006 10:53 PM

I only got up to 10,000 steps ONCE in the last 6 days, and that was yesterday when I spent over SIX hours moving furniture. Oh, I am so sore. Bruises everywhere. But hey, I got in almost 12k steps :P Today I barely broke 3000, haha

Grumbleworts 03-03-2006 10:55 PM

So how do you guys count these steps? Is it 10k OVER normal everyday, getting around steps, or total over the course of the whole day? I bought a cheap pedometer, and I rack up about 10k-20k a day (depending on what Im doing)...but i work in a high school as a permanent sub and am a grad student at night. so is it added to this or included in this?

Thanks!

I put it on in the morning and wear it all day... except I usually take it off when I am at home because I like to run around the house in a nightshirt and there is nowhere to PUT it LOL. If I am doing something like housecleaning where I will get a lot of steps in, I add a pair of shorts so I can wear the pedometer. :)

LadyFirelyght 03-04-2006 02:31 PM

Grumbleworts: I count every step I make. There's no way of telling how many "regular" steps I make, so it sort of has to be jumbled together.

Misti in Seattle 03-04-2006 04:22 PM

I agree, Lydia... I take every one I can get in my count!!!

Uhhummm.....What about wearing it on your underwear? :D

I don't know how to get the rolling on the floor laughing smiley.

((Oh, please don't let Dance say, "What underwear?"))

I wear mine all day, too, from the moment I wake up. Just about everything I wear has pockets, so that's where it lives. In addition to doing my normal daily stuff, whatever that may be and just boppin' about the house, I let it count the steps on the treadmill. That helps me boost my totals, and tells why my weekend totals are so abysmal (I don't tread on weekends).

10K is definitely not normal for me. If I make 10K it's because I really put my mind to it. When I don't make the extra effort, I don't hit 10K.

Lydia, you probably burned a bunch o' calories and got some strength work in by doing all that moving!

DeafinlySmart, the rofl smiley is just that... colon rofl colon like this : rofl :, without the spaces, of course. Or you could just click on the one in the expanded smilies box . :D

Misti in Seattle 03-05-2006 01:22 AM

Smart, to see the smileys you can go to the bottom of the page right below the message box and over on the left... it should say "Smilies are on" and a link. If you click on that a box of smilies will come up (you may need to enlarge it) and you will see all the codes for the different smilies.

And Lena, if either of you two think I am going to get into the "underwear" discussion think again! Except to say... don't you think a pedometer attached to your underwear would be just a tad bit uncomfortable?

LOL! That was funny!

I have a new pedometor myself. It's just a little bitty ole thing that only cost me about 3 bucks at Kmart. I didn't want to shell out a lot for unnecessary gadgets on the thing that I'll never use. So far I like it even though I too have noticed it's not exactly accurate. But I'm using it as a reference guide for now to get my butt moving. My highest to date has been over 4,000 steps, so I know I gotta move a bit more. I'll get there! :)

Hi Athena

My first pedometer was a $2.99 one from WalMart; however, I bought two of them and neither worked for longer than a day so I sunk a bit more $$$ into one. :) However I have since found out it is not a very good brand (the store tht sold it to me even told me that, sheesh)!

ROFL guy isn't in my list of smileys, but glad to know the code

My Pedometer doubles as a clip on coinpurse so when I'm home and sitting on the computer, it's a bit uncomfortable so I take mine off. I doubt mine would would stay upright on my undies. ;)

Mine seems to have gotten more accurate with time. Maybe I learned to position it better or it adjusted the stride information. I don't know. I use mine as a reference too. I tend to get over 10k during the week (avg 13k) or more (high 17k) then over 10k on Saturday (when I go shopping) and less than 5k on Sunday when I stay home. When the school I work for has days off I can tell a HUGE difference.

LadyFirelyght 03-05-2006 10:00 AM

You guys crack me up! Dance, slightly uncomfortable... but you've gotta get in those steps! :running:
