Modification: Let me count the ways

DH and I woke up extra early today and started working out. Today, we worked out to Tae Bo -- Get Ripped II -- the BEGINNER workout:stress: Through a 30 minute workout, I had to modify THREE...count them...THREE TIMES:o

I had to...I had no choice. Do you ever get that sick, nauseous feeling when you're over doing it? I got that three times. So, while DH and Billy were doing roundhouse kicks, I was marching in place...attempting to keep my HR up, but not up so much I was going to pass out.

Thinking back, I remember feeling this way when I first started Tae Bo a couple of years ago (I've fallen off the wagon a couple of times since then, of course). I would push and go through a whole workout -- just 30 short minutes -- and feel like I wanted to die. (Of course, little by little...every day, it would get easier and by week 2, I was keeping up better--it was still a challenge for me, but I wasn't gasping and I didn't feel sick).

Who knows, maybe this time around since I'm that much more out of shape (and that much heavier), it'll take 3 weeks. But I'm going to stick with it. I'm going to keep moving. Even if I have to move with modification, I'm still moving and that's what's important.

Good Monday morning everyone -- thanks for letting me ramble.

I started back working out after being sedentary for about 12 weeks (due to an accident and fractures)....I got the OK from my doc. and started s-l-o-w. When I started upping the cardio last week, I felt the same way....

it's just from being out of shape, it does pass. For me it took about a week. Modifying is better than injuring yourself.

I agree...or not moving at all...which is how I got here in the first place~

What I did was start back with a basic routine that totaled about 15 mins. of wts./cardio (interval training)....I told myself that I COULD do 15 mins....then I started to add 1-3 mins. every day with an additional set or cardio time on the elliptical. I remember hitting 26 mins. with some real cardio, finishing up and feeling very nauseated.

Now I'm doing 30-40 mins. without a problem, my HR stays elevated and I'm not struggling like last week.

my reward is that I've dropped an inch in my waist and 1/2 inch in each thigh.
(i'll take any sign of improvement!)

I sometimes start feeling nausous when I'm working out to hard. The Tao Bo DVDs are hard! and Billy always says it's fine to march in place if you get out of breath! You're still getting a great workout.

So modify if you need to. Before you know it you'll be stronger and healthier!

Thanks for the encouragement, ladies...

Marble, I would definitely say that inches lost is a great cause for celebration...whoohoo!
