Curves Weight Loss Classes

  • Hi - I've been a member of curves for almost a year. Have seen some good changes but need to take it up a notch.

I was thinking about signing up for a session of their weight loss classes. Has anyone attended them? Are they worth $69?

    Thanks...Sue
  • Curves Plan
I feel the program is completely worth it. I just joined and tonight is my 2nd weigh in. Last week on my first weigh in I had lost 7 lbs. It will slow down from here on. I feel there is a lot of support and since I'm already there anyways and I need the support for eating as well as exercising. I feel that is better then trying to pay for eg. Weight Watchers and going to a gym also. It's less money in the long run and so far I'm happy...there is a lot of food. You will never feel hungry. You have to eat 5-6 small meals a day and once you get used to that you will have no problem.
  • Hi...I don't go to the weightloss classes at Curves but I do count calories using myfooddairy.com. If you have never heard of i, it helps you monitor your daily calories and guides you as to how many calories you need to maintain and how many calories you can eat and lose XX amount per week. It tells you the suggested ranges of fats, proteins and carbs you can eat. You can track also your exercise minutes. The food database is very large and if you have anything you need to add, it is very simple. It costs $9 per month.

fitday.com is another online calorie counter and it is free. However, I don;t find it as easy to use - jmho - although alot of people use it.

I have been using myfooddiary for about 4 weeks and long with exercise I have lost 4 pounds. My goal is to lose a pound a week...slow and steady so I can keep it off.

    Just another option for ya!

  • I went to the weight management class and only paid for the book not the full program. I lost weight on the program without using their supplements and protein shake. The book is definitely worth $10 because it gives you a great outline to follow.
  • I just weighed in tonight and I'm down another 3 lbs. I just follow the diet myself. I also don't use the shakes or the supplements.
  • I joined the class, and I love it. I have met a lot of really great people. It has been nice having moral support from the other class members, especially during the first two weeks of the diet - which was very trying. Plus, in my class, only the first three weeks were spent discussing the actual diet. The rest of the time was spent talking about chronic diseases in women and general health information. Right now, we are in our last week and I have lost 18lbs. I am hoping that by next week it will be 20.

Whether or not you should join the class really depends on your personality. If you are like me, and enjoy having the support of a group, the class is a great idea. However, if you think you can handle the diet on your own, you should just buy the book. The book describes the entire diet for you. The class just adds support and free stuff (supplements, t-shirts, bags, etc.) I used none of the supplements (I think the shake is gross!) and I am still having good results.

    Hope that helps.
