Walked another 4mi today... bringing my monthly total (including those that I hadn't logged on here) to 16. Will put another 4 in by the end of the week. I think I'll set my goal for 30 (pretty good for cooler months, I think).

I can't believe there's just over a month until Christmas. Man alive. Time is just zoomin' by! Unfortunately I won't have time enough between now and our departure to Calif. to get any gift shopping done, but I am determined to get all the Christmas cards written out and addressed. Perhaps I'll start on that tonight. How's everyone else fairing on their holiday to-do list?

Glad to hear that you are all keeping well and staying OP! Congrats to ALL of you for your continued dedication! :) Keep up the great work, ladies!

Sure hope you're all having a wonderful day. Stay HAPPY and HEALTHY! Best wishes to each of you.

~mel

Dinahgirl 11-15-2005 08:13 PM

I did my 3 mile walk and box with George. I'm at 19.5 for the month. My goal was 30 - I might beat it!!!

Mel, did you say holiday to-do list? hahahahahahahahaha!

Valerie Joy 11-15-2005 10:53 PM

I did 2 mile WATP. I think I'm about ready to move up to 3 miles!

pixiefalls 11-16-2005 12:39 AM

Hey gals! Sounds like you guys are doing just wonderful, congrats to you all!

Valorie Joy - awesome!

I seriously need a kick in the butt to go walking or to at least do my WATP video :(.

melekalikimaka 11-16-2005 03:18 PM

Hey all, another walker here!

Hi Ladies, mind if I join you? I used to post on this thread waaaaaaaaaaaay back in 03 and early 04. I kinda slacked off on the walking for the past year and boy does it show :sumo:. But I got my butt back to WW last week Tuesday and am currently in week 2. Walking is my main source of exercise so if y'all don't mind I'll be posting a bit in here. :)

Let's see, I don't really have a mileage goal, but I do want to at least walk 5x a week. I average a route of 3.25-- 3.5 on weekdays, then 5.5 on Sunday morning. I have a 6 mo. old puppy that I'm trying to get trained enough on a leash so my son can walk her himself. He's 6 so he doesn't have much patience with a wayward dog sniffing around too much.

Well, just wanted to say hello and hope to chat w/you ladies a little more. Have a good one.

Trixie14 11-16-2005 03:24 PM

I'm up to 16.1 miles for November, it was raining yesterday so I didnt get in more than 15 minutes to check the mail! Oh well at least it is something! hehe I'm also down to 219.5, 5lbs! :)

luflic 11-16-2005 07:08 PM

Ahhh last year at this time we were in Hawaii sure have a beautiful place to walk!!!

i am so impressed I am doing this. Three miles each day so far total is 43! Me, I know I can't believe it!

Dinahgirl 11-16-2005 08:03 PM

You go, Valerie Joy!

Pixie, the only way I can make myself do it is to do nothing else the minute I get home from work. Well, I usually run to the bathroom first and then I change my clothes, but I don't look at the mail or start dinner until I've done exercise of some kind, even if it's just a 10 minute walk.

Trixie, congratulations on your loss!

Melekalikamaka (mind if we call you Mele?), of course you are welcome! We're glad to have you!

Luflic, I know what you mean. I was never an exercise person. More of a book person! And here I am amazing myself: I did the 3 mile power walk with Leslie tonight. I'm at 22.5 for November.

cathyxxx 11-17-2005 11:53 AM

:thanks2:

good morning gang

I did 2 miles this morning before getting ready for work.

November Miles = 8 LOL
(I think I would feel better about the 2 miles this morning if I wasn't keeping up with my total miles for the month - 8 miles so far is pitiful - but all I can do is all I can do)

hope everybody has a blessed day!

hugs,
cathy

luflic 11-17-2005 02:51 PM

Two miles before work is great!!!

Three miles for me today. 46 total

blues4miles 11-17-2005 03:53 PM

Aww Cathy, you're too hard on yourself. Just go by what you feel, sometimes life just gets in the way and you can't blame yourself for all that.

macdeez 11-17-2005 04:05 PM

Hey ladies, hope everyone is doing well! :)

Managed to get another 4mi in today... bringing me up to 20 so far. I'm walking only outside right now (to take DD to school and to pick her up) and hope that in the new year, I'll be motivated enough to walk indoors as well.

I hopped on the scale this morning and it read 138! :jig: FINALLY! I'm out of the 140-range! I've been hovering there for nearly a year now and had almost resigned myself to the fact that this was the weight my body would stay at. But finally a breakthrough!

I'm hoping to drop a 2 more lbs before our departure to Calif. in a couple weeks... we'll see, I guess. ;)

Glad to hear that everyone is getting miles in... every one of them counts!

cathy, don't beat yourself up over your 8mi... it's a busy time of year, be proud of the fact that you are sticking with this! Keep it up girl, you'll get there!

melekalikimaka, welcome back! Looking forward to getting to know you along the way!

luflic, 46mi, wow! That's crazy-awesome! Keep up the great work!

Dinahgirl, 22mi is totally impressive! WTG!

Trixie, congrats on the 5lb loss! Keep it up!

pixiefalls, *kick in the butt* <--- Just like you asked! ;)

ValerieJoy, Great work upping your routine by a mile, I'm sure you'll see great results by doing so!

Everyone else, !

Anyway I must be off. Things to do. Hope you all have a HAPPY and HEALTHY day! :)

~mel

melekalikimaka 11-18-2005 11:22 AM

Good morning ladies, thanks for the welcomes. Well, I did get my 3.5 miles yesterday evening, but only 2 miles the day before. I am planning on seeing the new Harry Potter movie tonight with the family so I need to get home a little early and get my walk in early...that means walking with the sun in my eyes and burning on my face, ugh! But still, I will make that sacrifice to see my beloved Harry. No popcorn will touch my lips.

Mel, congratulations on your breakthrough! :cp: So you're heading to Disneyland? Enjoy! Ride Space Mountain for me if ya can. :)

Dinah, I'm with you, more of a book person and so not an exercise person. But we're changing that about ourselves aren't we? :dancer: Congratulations on quitting smoking BTW, you're reaching the one year mark soon.

luflic, I guess i shouldn't be complaining about the sun and heat when some parts of the country are getting snowed on. Whereabouts in the islands did you visit?

I've gotta get a move on. Have a great day ladies.

luflic 11-18-2005 03:17 PM

Ahhhh to be in the 130s I think I was in jr high when I weiighed that. You give me strength for the plateau I am on at the moment. You have persevered for one year! Wow, I will see this through this time!

Let me know about Harry I am afraid it will scare me this one is the darkest they say and I am such a woose!

We visited all the islands we stayed on Ohahu for five nights and then took a two week cruise to the others. I loved the big island of Hawaii the best. Which island are you on? Sure is a beautiful place!!!

I got my three miles in today= 49

melekalikimaka 11-19-2005 05:27 PM

3.25 miles for me yesterday, then it was off to Harry Potter. I enjoyed the movie but it was so heavily condensed that there were a lot of things I wished they would've elaborated on. But it was still a good thrilling movie. It was a lot scarier than the others (if you can call the other ones scary!) but if you've read the books you know what to expect.

Luflic, I am on Oahu. I haven't been to the Big Island for quite some time but I am wanting to go and see the volcano soon. My favorite island away from home is Maui. If I had the money, I'd move there in a heartbeat. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

I am taking the day off from walking but I did vacuum and wash the car, that counts for exercise right? ;) I do plan on my first Sunday morning walk in a long time. I sent my son and hubby off to a weekend karate camp so I'm free as a bird and will enjoy myself.

Have a good weekend all!

Thank you :D, I finally did a mile and a 1/2 today :carrot:!

Great job on your miles everyone , have a great night!

Dinahgirl 11-20-2005 07:30 PM

3 more miles with George Foreman...I'm at 27.5 miles! I WILL meet and exceed my goal of 30 miles this month!

ambabs 11-21-2005 11:27 AM

Hi everyone I haven't checked in lately. I'm glad everyone is doing so well! Remember every little bit helps. I don't think I'm gonna meet my November goal unless I majorly kick it into gear. I'm at 23.5 miles for the month and my goal is 50.

We saw Harry Potter friday night with the kids, 6 and 8 years old. My son liked it, my daughter fell asleep. Me, I hated it. I've never said that about a harry potter movie before. They chopped too much in hopes of keeping it at 2.5 hours. I think if I hadn't read the book I might have liked it better.

luflic 11-21-2005 07:10 PM

Well I walked my three miles on Sat. I take Sun off and today I walked three more so I have a total of 55 miles but I am so frustrated because today at weigh in I did not loose anything for the third week in a row! Errrrrrr

Dinahgirl 11-21-2005 08:57 PM

I met and passed my goal. 31.5 miles!!! However, I must admit that I had set my goal low because I've been having foot problems. After a cortisone shot, ice and stretching, it seems to be much better now. I'm hoping to walk in a 5k race on Thanksgiving Day - the Turkey Trot. I won't walk for speed because I don't think my foot is quite there yet, but I do want the experience of walking in a race. So wish me luck! :goodvibes

lucky_me 11-22-2005 02:11 AM

I just did my first WATP today- I did 2 miles. At first I was like "this is slow and boring.." but it got hard in the middle and towards the end. I love it! It is a good workout and I don't feel just exhausted when I am done like some others.

I am going to set my goal at an average of a mile a day for the rest of the month. :) It's fun and I like Leslie...

Valerie Joy 11-22-2005 02:18 PM

I finally made my way up to the 3 mile WATP! Wow what a great workout!!

I'm at 13 miles for November. I've also been to curves 8 times :carrot:

luflic 11-22-2005 03:07 PM

Oh Dinah that is great! Maybe next year I will do a turkey trot too! Go girl. You are fast approaching a year of stop smoking and that is to be comended!!!!!

Did my three miles today so 58 thus far.

ambabs 11-22-2005 03:34 PM

Dinah good luck in the race I'm sure you'll do well!

I'm up to 27.5 so far. I've already done my 3 miles today but I am going to try to get in one more when the kids get home. Sometimes I need them as my motivation to keep going.

Dinahgirl 11-22-2005 07:05 PM

Thank you so much for your good wishes. I am getting very excited and nervous, too! I've never ever done anything like this before. Tonight I walked 3 miles just to make sure I could do it, and I was thinking that this will be a HUGE milestone for me. Almost a year ago, I quit smoking, something I thought I could and would never do. And here I am about to be in a race! Thank you, luflic and ambabs!

I''m up to 33.5 miles now for the month...I goofed on my last entry and added an extra mile.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone...see you after the Trot! :turkey:

melekalikimaka 11-22-2005 08:29 PM

Hi ladies, looks like everyone is doing well. I got my 3.5 miles in yesterday but had to wear my knee brace. i don't know what's going on with this knee but I did fall on it back in Sept. but I went on vacation a week afterward without any problems walking on it. Maybe delayed reaction? If it continues I may have to find a doc to look at it.

I was down 2.6 lbs at my WI today which I am really happy about! Now to just watch those portions on Thanksgiving...

Dinahgirl, good luck and have fun on your T-day turkey trot! You can do it!

ambabs, I liked the HP movie but agree with you that they cut too much of the story out of it. I hope with the new director for Order of the Phoenix he "gets it right". Of course if they stayed too true to the book they could make an 8 hr movie

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone :happ3:

luflic 11-23-2005 02:48 PM

Did my three miles so tota of Sixty One! Have a :thanks1: Blessed Thanksgiving

macdeez 11-23-2005 10:23 PM

Hey ladies, hope you're all doing well! :)

WI was today and I'm down to my Disneyland goal weight - 136! :carrot: I'm so excited! :D I still have one week to go so maybe I'll even surpass it! ;)

Have only walked two more miles since last Thursday but have four planned for tomorrow. :) Lotsa mall-walking on the weekend too. :)

Good work to ALL of you for getting your miles in! What awesome progress you're all making! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Type you later!

~mel

Dinahgirl 11-24-2005 12:02 PM

I had so much fun with the Turkey Trot. I walked 3.1 miles (5k). Out of 2,200 walkers, I probably came in 2,191, but that's okay, because I did it!!!!! It was lots of fun and I encourage you to do it if you have such an event nearby. They had a 1 mile race first, and then 5k, 10k, and 15k. It was runners and walkers, serious athletes and moms with strollers. A real family atmosphere and every level welcome. I received a t-shirt and a medal! I feel really proud today. And I'm at 36.6 miles for November and by Monday, I will have earned my six stars in the Presidential Challenge!

macdeez 11-26-2005 08:01 PM

Hey ladies, only on for a brief moment... got the four intended miles in on Thursday and two today. Total: 28. Will get another four in before we leave for our trip which means I'll have passed my monthly goal by two miles.

Since I won't be back until mid-December, I'll set my goal now... 50mi (lots Disney-walking, of course!). :)

Hope you're all keeping well! Best wishes and take care!

~mel

Michele L 11-27-2005 01:10 PM

Did my first mile since Nov 5! I went back to the original WATP with my 3 pound weights. Hoping to do more later today, but if I don't; that's OK. I have a new plan for reaching my goals and I'm not going to stress out (especially at this time of year!).

Have a great Sunday!

Michele

Dinahgirl 11-27-2005 02:09 PM

HI everybody, hope your Thanksgiving weekend has been good. I walked 3+ miles this morning, which means I'm at 40 miles for the month. And I finished the Presidential Challenge thing...got my six stars. Yippee!

macdeez -- have a great time at DisneyLand! I'm sure you'll meet your goal with all that walking.

Michele, just jump right back on the wagon...one day at a time!

Have a great day!

sweetn'crazy 11-28-2005 07:40 PM

Hey Everyone,

I have not posted in a LONG time - probably since September I would say. Anyways lately I have been going to the gym latley with a friend from work, and we have both been doing 40 minutes on the treadmill and also doing abdomen exercises. We have been going for about 2 months now, and I feel good. I have lost about 12 pounds.

Anyways something I really need to focus on is DEFINATLEY portion control at meals, and snacks... uhh. I am a junk-food addict. I have been doing a little better lately though. Just trying to snack healthy.

Well.. what I really came here to ask is about this Walking away the pounds stuff. I'm not sure what it is. Is it like DVD program?? Do you do it inside? I am confused. I also heard something about a couch to 5k program?? Does anyone know anything about this? I would really appreciate any help!!

Thanks guys!! Hope you are all doing well! :D :carrot:

Michele L 11-28-2005 09:01 PM

Yesterday, after the WATP 1 mile, I did 40 minutes on the treadmill (2.25 miles). and today was another 40 minutes (2.3 miles).

Walk Away the Pounds is a set of DVD's/videos by Leslie Sansone. They range from 1 mile to a new 5 mile that's about to come out. She also has several toning and interval training ones as well. I LOVE them! You do them in a space as small as your livingroom. They are low/no impact, so you don't hurt your joints, either. Feel free to message me if you have questions.

Michele

sweetn'crazy 11-29-2005 07:34 PM

Thanks!! I really appreciate it. I will definatley look into it, it sounds like something I would benefit from! Thanks! :dancer:

Dinahgirl 11-29-2005 09:31 PM

Couch to 5k is a program designed to get you from being a couch potato to running 5k (3.1 miles). It's on a site called Cool Runnings, I think, but you can google it. It looks like a great plan if you are interested in running.

melekalikimaka 11-29-2005 11:31 PM

Hi ladies, it's been awhile since I posted here. I had my WW weigh-in today and was down -4.8 lbs :carrot: and that was after Thanksgiving! I had a 3.5 mile walk the morning of, then really watched my portion control and it showed on the scale. :D

Well, my walking partner (my sis) is on vacation right now so it's just me and the pup. We did 3.5 miles today. I think I will set my goal for December at 40 miles.

Happy walking everyone! :dancer:
