Tae Bo vs. Palates? (new here)

  • Which do you prefer? I am a sahm to 4 month old twins and a 3.9 year old. I am ready to get things started with looseing this twin skin and get my old size 10/12 body back. I am now a size 18. I have lost some. I was in a 20. But I feel awful. I hate my body. I hate how I look. My husband is constantly telling me he thinks I am beautiful. I feel like a cow. I have ordered some tapes of each of these. I have heard great things about both of them. I am jsut wondering what you prefer, and what else has worked for you.
  • They are completely different systems so I would say do them both! I really am not coordinated so never got the hang of the Tae-Bo stuff but it's a great cardio workout if you can keep it up. I do love Pilates though and have half a dozen DVDs. Pilates is great for strengthening your core and flexibility but you won't lose weight JUST doing that system. Good luck!
  • I agree with Liz. Tae-bo really boosts your heart rate and makes you sweat. Pilates builds core strength and works on increasing stability. I'd imagine you can work up a sweat (I did, but my guess is because that yoga that the room has to be 100 degrees came right before my pilates class) I actually love to do both. I cant find my pilates tape right now, but I normally would do Tae bo and then pilates right after.
  • I do both and love them. After I do Taebo I feel more energized, after pilates I feel more relaxed. I would suggest doing both, definately worth your time.

  • I love tae bo. It is so much fun, i never get bored of doing it. try the billy blanks for the abs. it's a lot of fun and makes you sweat a lot. pilates is too slow for me, i do it only when i want to relax.
  • I do both. My Pilates tapes/DVD's are in segments (some 10 mins some 15 mins, that's all I can really handle), so I kinda do those on the side for core strenth. Tae Bo is a great cardio workout, and it also uses a ton of muscles. Depending on which ones you get, you could make that your main cardio for a while, and do pilates on off days or just on the side. I think both are great, but like Liz said, they are for totally different things! Experiment with them, I have one pilates system I like better than the other. It depends on what you like really!
