Default The ball and back pain

So I've used the big ball before to do my ab crunches without any problems, but recently, (since re-joining the gym a week ago), I've noticed terrible pain in my lower back while doing my abs on the ball. I'm wondering if I'm doing them incorretly.

My abs have been terribly sore. I'm doing 50-100 crunches a day on the ball. Maybe I'm just overdoing it?

Anyone else experiance the same problem?

You are definitely overdoing your abs! Abs are like just any muscle group and need at least a day of recovery in between workouts. Try a few days of rest and then go back to abs three times a week and see how your back does. If your back is still hurting, perhaps talk to one of the trainers in your gym for advice on your form.

Good luck and hope you're feeling better soon!

I found my back would hurt with the ball if it wasn't inflated enough. Make sure there is enough air in the ball to properly allow you to support your core.

I'm gonna give my abs a rest for a day or two (and focus on my triceps, heehee) and then see how my back feels. If the pain still presist then I'll consult a trainer on my form.

Something I'm also wondering is the proper use of the different size balls. I use the larger ones, so I wonder if the size has anything to do with it? Hmmmmm..

As far at the ball being fully inflated, well, it seems to be so. It's pretty darn hard. But then again, what do I know. Another good question(s) to ask a trainer.

Thanks!
