Food to Eat After Exercise?

  • hey - i was wondering if anyone knew when and what its appropriate to eat after a workout - lets say a run/walk?

I talk to guys who train and some say i should just have a banana - others say i should eat like whole wheat toast with PB a glass of milk and an apple...
i'm not looking to "train" persay and build mass - just lose weight...

This morning I woke up late, (cuz i'm off from work), went to the park around 10:30 and stayed an hour..then waited like 1/2 hour and ate a light whole wheat english muffin with an egg (cooked in Pam non-fat cooking spray) and a slice of fat-free kraft single...
On WW that is only 4 points! and it is soo good...but is that good for after a workout?

  • Since your goal is to lose weight and not build mass, I'd suggest eating whatever and whenever your next meal/snack would be. You aren't trying to repair muscle tissue like if you were doing heavy weight training, so you don't need an infusion of fast carbohydrates and protein. You haven't done a long endurance run, so your body in not glycogen depleted. I don't think you need any special "post-workout" nutrition in this case.
