ok so heres the crack. i'm 260ish and stuck i've just started training in the gym again after a long lay off through injury thats fine. but i need to run/jog every morning my alarm clock goes off at 5.30 so i can get up and jog for a bit before work. however upon looking out the window and seeing tis dark raining and windy not to mention cold. the comfort of my warm bed is to much of a draw compared to the masocistic ordeal of going out and running.
Ya know what? I HATE getting up in the morning, no matter how much sleep I've had. I realized a long time ago that if I set my schedule to exercise in the morning I would never do it.
First of all, has anyone ever told you you look a lot like Matthew Perry?? Cause you totally do!
Now, onto the subject of exercise. Is running the only kind of exercise you enjoy? What about purchasing a couple of aerobics tapes/dvds so that you can exercise in your home? Or a tread mill even? I hate depending on the weather as to whether or not I'm able to exercise...so i go to a gym.
yes i have been told on here not so long back that i look like mathew perry. but only by one person and yes i have the same sarcastic outview but i do it much better no i can't do aerobic vids cos there is people sleeping upstairs and a treadmill is about 2 700 quid
If you are interested in a treadmill, maybe you could get one of the less expensive models from Argos. It probably wouldn't last a few years, but it should get you through the murky mornings when going outside seems out of the question. An elliptical is also a less expensive alternative, and they are really quiet so it wouldn't disturb the family.
I hear you on the morning problem! I have to get up at 5:30am to get to work - to exercise before hand, I would have to get up at 4something and my husband would FREAK.
Its harder to stick to an afternoon / evening routine, since "things" always come up (working late etc.). One thing my housemate and I used to do was go out for 45min before bed - no matter how late it was. I'm a wheelchair user, and he'd run ahead of me and then back and then away while I pushed along... we got some looks! While its true that exercising RIGHT before you sleep can make it harder to drop off, the effect only lasts about 30min, and it always took me that long to brush my teeth etc when we got back anyway.
Just don't give yourself the option to sleep in, I know it sounds a little odd.. but that used to work for me really well. I wish you the best of luck, and you can do anything you put your mind to
I have heard that drinking a large glass of water before bed will help you get up in the morning. I tried yesterday and just climbed back in bed! I find that if I leave my shades a little open at night the light in the morning wakes me up better than the alarm, and I feel like getting up. It is harder when it is raining, on those days I usually let myself sleep in, and shift to an evening workout.
My husband has serious sleep problems, and so often has a very hard time getting up in the morning. Since he gets up after I leave the house, I'm not there to throw water on him, except on weekends. So, the alarm clock is across the room, set to the annoying buzzer NOT the radio, the curtains open, and I don't feed the cat before I leave (an impatient cat can wake up anyone!)
