calories burned at step class?

I've always wanted to know this....can anyone approximate the calories burned in a 55 min. step class? I know some people step harder than others...but Im talking one riser, and a reasonable amount of output. I mean, im not leaping all over the room  (i have a bad back so I dont go crazy in class) but I def. am a beat red, sweaty mess by the end of it.
anyhow just curious......

Step Class Calories

I am wondering the same as well...I take a step class at least twice a week, and it would be very helpful knowing how many calories are burned with a one-riser step and moderate to high intensity...

I absolutely love step aerobics. I have wondered the same question. I think that I burned more calories in step that I did in kickboxing.. If you find out let me know..

thank you for those links! they are amazing! I love that I can find out how many calories I can burn brushing my teeth!

Wow that said that I burn 820 calories for one hour of a low impact step aerobics. I don't think that can possibly be accurate. (would be nice if it was, though!!!)

HI I believe that base is 400 cal an hour and for everyone riser it increases 10%. If you do leaps you can increase more there. But you have to remember that everyones body is different. I hope that helps.

How many calories you burn also depends on how much you weigh and how intense the step class is.

Wow! what a great site for calculating calories burned. I can't believe what a difference there is in bicycling for an hour vs. walking for an hour. That clinches it for me, I'm buying that bike soon. :goodscale
