Spinning Classes

  • Hello,

I'm new to posting. I usually just read for inspiration. I was wondering if anyone has tried a spinning class. I currently weigh almost 230 and am interested in taking a class in the evenings. I'm afraid that I am too heavy and that I wont be able to do 5minutes . Any responses are greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Stephanie
  • Hey there!
The best thing about spinn classes are that you can go at your own pace! The instructors encourage that! Just tell the instructor that you are new to spinning. he/She will have suggestions for you. And if you don't want to tell the instructor that, then just go in and pedel, do what you feel you can do, take as many breaks as you want (keep pedeling slowly).
these classes are super fun! Just JUMP right into it, you will be gald you did!
  • I agreee just do it for the fun of it, take it at your own pace, don't be shy just DO IT!!
  • I agree. I've been taking a 45-minute spinning class twice a week at 5:45 a.m., followed by two other classes. I thought it would all kill me, especially the spinning, and I still have a hard time with it, but the instructor encourages modification and taking it at your own pace. When I came back to the class after recovering from pneumonia, I had to get off the bike after about a half hour, even at an easy pace, but no one minded. Everyone in the class is super nice and some are in worse physical condition than me. I'd say you SHOULD get a doctor's ok first, though, but if all's cool, go for it. It burns a mega amount of cals, even when you take it easy.

Get a gel seat and be aware it'll take a few classes before you feel comfy on the bike, but keep doin' it ... you can modify in all sorts of ways ... keep the resistance low, sit when they stand, do every other "sprint" instead of all of them and sprint more slowly or just keep pedaling at an easy pace.

Be aware that you can't be pedaling away and suddenly stop, though, you need to taper off the intensity when you want to stop ... it's quite dangerous to just stop intense aerobic exercise.

Just get the doc's ok ...
