I hadn't done Tai Chi before, either. It's very relaxing and with David-Dorian Ross you don't need any experience. He just flows you through the exercise. The over 50 dvd is about 35 minutes. He has other dvds, which are more vigorous, but I can't do the knee bends. I go down and I can't get up! Ha.
I still really like Richard Simmons programs as well. ;) He makes me laugh and he's fun. His last series called Project Hope has some gentle, shorter sessions that are great for getting back into things and with Richard there is no pressure to kick higher or go faster; you do what you can and have fun. |
I ended up back in the hospital again. I need a valve replacement and it acts up from time to time. I'm trying to avoid going out of town for this but my cardiologist says they may be doing the procedure locally in 2020, so I'm hoping. I am cleared to exercise as tolerated, and they know my exercise is gentle. I'm hoping to be doing this regularly by Thanksgiving. It is really hard to get back to it once you take a time-out! But I need to Just Do It!!!

So 9 more months have passed. I've exercised sporadically but am starting to get back to it more regularly. I'm noticing some loss of mobility and I need to fight that. I got a new recumbent bike that I love. It exercises the arms as well as the legs so it's a good workout for an old lady like me. I've also been doing some squats. I'm up to 3 sets of 12. They are good for strengthening the legs. If I keep this up I should see a noticeable difference by the New Year.

Wannabe, I'm sorry I didn't see your initial post many moons ago :D Hey I clicked on your pic and you sure don't look like an 'old lady' !! we are just "older" right? I am 3 months away from 60  and still a little overweight despite joining 3FC 18 YEARS ago (another  ) but my saving grace has been working out pretty consistently. I just wanted to encourage you on! :cheer2:
Through the years I've had my favorites; first Gilad; then FitnessBlender, then Shelley Dose; now I'm a devotee of Pahla Bee. She is a self described "woman of a certain age" and I did NOT know about how the loss of estrogen in women's bodies changes things for us. and she is a warm wonderful personality. But you sound as if you are doing great with the recumbent bike :bravo: |
