"Back in the Saddle Again!"

Yesterday, after years of trying to fit my small 5'1" frame on every adult bike possible, I FINALLY found & purchased the PERFECT bike for me! I bought a Trek Shift 3 WSD with a 13.5" frame that fits me like a glove.

Anyone who is short will understand how exciting this truly is. After years of "leaping off the seat" to stop, or circling around to find a curb, rock, stump, etc to lean on, I can finally stop and touch the ground!

I got up early this morning and rode my new bike 4.07 miles! I am so proud of myself.

I had a stroke in 2012 that left me with drop foot on my right side. My right arm is also not as strong as it used to be. For the drop foot I use a Walkaide for most activities daily. At night, my leg is sore from getting "zapped" all day, so my family has gotten used to my walkers and gimpy gate.

But, and this is the exciting part: I don't need to use my Walkaide to ride my bike. I can keep a folded cane in a satchel and off I go!

My new bike is so comfortable. We have a wonderful canal bike path close by that I hope to graduate to using soon.

Hello fellow rider! I am 5'2" and definitely hear you. I am so happy to hear you are enjoying biking. For me, biking is really about the only exercise that keeps me going long enough to get positive results. Congrats and I am so happy to hear a stroke survivor success story!
