Heart rate worries
Bear with me, this is a bit of a long story. I'll try to condense it as much as I can, though. ;)
I bought myself a Fitbit Charge HR back in May, and I love it. It's been really handy having an idea of what my heart rate is at any given time. Don't get me wrong -- I know that it's not an exact measurement, and I'm not relying on it to be 100% accurate by any means. Today I got curious -- how much difference would there be between my Charge HR and my Polar FT7, in terms of heart rate measurement? So I decided to try a little experiment. I wore both. And I noticed something a little worrying. On my Fitbit, the highest my heart rate went was 167 bpm. But on my Polar -- apparently it spiked at a horrifying 233 bpm. I didn't feel anything out of kilter -- no shortness of breath, no dizziness or lightheadedness. I didn't even feel like I was working particularly hard. So now I'm sitting here thinking -- what the **** is going on? Could my Polar be wonky? Could my heart rate *really* be that high with no symptoms? I mean, you would think that at that rate, I'd feel *something*. But I felt great. Does anyone have any ideas? Or should I be on the phone to my doctor scheduling a stress test? :?: |
