NOT stretching after running is NOT working for me! 10000th post in "exercise!" yay!!

Totally silly I know, but I LOVE round numbers. Was about to click on the exercise section to make this thread, then I realized that the total number of threads is 9,999. So I thought "great! Mine's gonna be the 10000th!".

Well back to my issue now. I started running a little over a month ago. I'm doing a program to run a 10k. I'm using the yellow app.

I read a piece about 2 years ago about the benefits of not stretching after runs and therefore I make the choice not to stretch after my runs.

The runs are getting more and more intense and I notice that these days I'm becoming increasingly kind of knotty. Throughout the day and night, I feel like stretching because of that feeling.

Of course the article wasn't totally against stretching. I thought it would be okay for me too but I had to realize that the thing is simply not for me.

I loved how I felt relaxed and light after stretching. I miss that feeling and now miscellaneous uneasiness throughout my body have convinced me that I have to.

Does not stretching work for some people? Is it that I have to allow sometime to get used to it or am I doing something the wrong way?

You could use a foam roller or a knobbly stick thing to run against your muscles, particularly if it's your IT band that's hurting? But if you want to stretch, just stretch. OR do some yoga or something. Do what feels good for your own body.

I'm curious what reason the article gave for not stretching after running. I've never heard that before but I'm also not much of a runner.

I've heard of not doing static stretching before running, with the theory that being tighter snaps everything back more quickly and makes you run faster. You still warm up with walking/high knees/jogging but no static stretching. But not stretching afterwards Is not something I've ever heard about. Like Leah if be curious what the theory is behind that.
