Compression Socks and Cramps
I'm running a half marathon on Sunday and ran with compression socks for the first time last night. I'd heard they'd help me with "recovery" and keep my legs a little bit more energetic throughout the race. Thought I'd make sure they did the trick this week while I tapered down.
CRAMPS. Immobilizing cramps in my calves with them. I had to roll them down before I even hit a mile. The cramps were gone (for the most part) after. I'm well hydrated, no new medications, eating properly (plenty of bananas, etc.) and have great shoes. I bought the compression socks based off of the sizing on the back. Any clue as to why I'm cramping? I didn't stretch as well as I should have before I ran yesterday. Think that could be why? |
Hi,
CS are supposed to decrease cramping but a few do experience more cramping. Research is really mixed on CS. I would shelve them for now. |
