I have been walking for the past 1 month at speed 3.0 mph in a treadmill for 1 hr (total 3 miles) 5 days a week. And I did lose 5 lbs this past month. However, on continued walking, I do not know how effective walking at this moderate pace is going to be for weight loss.. because I browsed around and read that, to have a workout that would prove effective for weight loss, one should raise their heart-rate to the fat-burning zone of 55 - 65% max. heart rate and that only a brisk walk of 3.5 mph and above would place you in the effective fat-burning zone!
I'm little bit worried... (if it gets too strenuous, I would do no exercise). |

Last month I walked 3 miles 5 times a week each. And was on a diet, eating just 1200 Calories a day... At the end of the month, I have lost merely 2 lbs! I am surprised... last year I was at another gym. There, I did Pilates twice a week for an hour each, walked 45 min each day, and had a personal trainer for 1 day a week to train me for an hour... and was on a diet. Then I lost 34 lbs in 4 months! This year's slow progress for the last 2 months is making me feel very depressed about attaining my goals... I long to hear walking success stories in this forum! |
