Exercise at home or in the gym?
Hey guys,
What do you prefer exercising at home or in the gym?? Im in a huge debate with my sister about this!! I say that its much better to go to the gym, but she says its better to workout at home!!! :dizzy: |
i think it just depends on the person.I am not consistent at all at home,but make my 9am CrossFit class 5 days a week.

I love both. I couldn't live with just one or the other. I workout at the gym, at home, and outside.

The answer is: whatever will get you doing it regularly! There are advantages to the gym as far as equipment and professionals to advise you, but if there isn't a convenient gym in your area, you won't go no matter how committed you are.
Where I live right now, there are only two gyms: a Planet Fitness (cheap, but no weight area) or a fancy local one that costs 3x as much. Neither one is anywhere near my home or my work. So instead of trying to force myself into something that doesn't fit my routine, I bought a couple pieces of basic equipment and work out at home :) |
But the question is where do you keep your equipment in your house?!!!?????

I can't make the gym work for me at the moment (3 kids, no crèche here) so I only walk with two youngest in a pram or do a few floor exercises at night at home. I'd love to go to a gym again but right now home is working well for me.

I need a combination....On weekends if I'm going to work out has to be the first thing I do when I get up or it won't happen...So I do DVDs, rent on amazon, or daily burn (just joined jury is still out)
During the week I'm not getting up at 5am to do anything but hit snooze, but I will hit the gym before I head home. Between the gym I usually work out 3 - 4 days a week and its been working. |

I live in a 1-bedroom 650 square foot condo, so I have no equipment in my place. My building has a gym, which I use occasionally. But the adage that "No condo resident uses the gym" is a complete and utter lie when it comes to my building. It's a nice gym but certainly doesn't have the same breadth of equipment as a commercial gym, so it's quite common for me to have to wait for a machine to be available. So, I continue to go to my regular gym for my workouts.
That said, I have no desire to ever own a single family house, so if I ever buy another strata (i.e. another condo, or a townhouse), a gym will always be a must-have amenity. |
I am a morning person, all the way. It is much easier for me to wake up at 4 - 430 am, drive to the gym and work out than to convince myself to go after work.

I prefer the gym or outside. I find working out at home I get easily distracted or lose motivation and stop mid workout

I prefer going to the gym as I discovered that when I see others exercising I ferl more motivated as well. Also as I work for many hours I have connected my home with the place I relax so working out there is zero.

You guys make working out outside sound much fun. I think ill give it a try this week and try going for a long walk.
I do HIIT workouts (available on youtube) at home usually before I go to bed. I think I don't like working out in the gym as i'm a bit self-conscious about how I look as I work out.. |

I found a balance for myself: I do cardio at home on the treadmill and power training at the gym with my coach. I do not like running outside bacause it is easy to stay at home bacause of the weather, so home treadmill is a perfect decision. If I want to spend time outside I ride a bike. It helps me to stay fit.

I think it's necessary to train at home every day. But as for the gym, I'm not sure, it's better to go there when you have the opportunity because it takes more time. Also a good sport is cycling. I know where you can find best bicycle for women and you will be delighted with them. Women's bikes are different from men's bikes and I like that. You will not only lose weight with them but also train your endurance.

Well, the truth is better in the gym, because there are all the devices we need to exercise each part of our body. I suggest you train in the gym and also meet people. Cheers

Gym or home
I personally enjoy working out at home. When I'm done, I can jump in the shower and put on relaxing clothes. It set the mood for a relaxing evening.

I prefer going to the gym. It helps me organize my day properly and not to miss training.

I used to go to the gym, but my job doesn't allow me to go there at the same time and I was annoyed by it. So, I started working out at home. I addressed a lifepro customer service and ordered dumbbells, so I can also do strength exercises now.
And I agree that taking a shower and wearing relaxing clothing after the training is a big advantage. |

What a debate! Both home and gym workouts have their perks. Exercising at home is convenient, while the gym offers equipment and motivation. I've found success with a mix of both, tailoring workouts to my schedule and goals. The key is finding what works for you and staying consistent!

I exercise at home for convenience but plan to go to the gym soon to mix things up and use some heavier equipment. There’s something motivating about the gym atmosphere that just can’t be replicated at home. Speaking of getting the right gear, has anyone used sports basement for their gym supplies? Any reviews of sports basement customer service? I’m considering buying some new workout clothes and possibly some equipment, and their insights could be really helpful.
