I have close friends that are avid runners and they tell me that they shell out money for expensive running pants in the winter, upwards of $120! But they say these pants keep their legs warm.

Another tip they gave me is to wear layers and begin the run near your home, when the top layer gets too hot swing by the house and drop it off.

I am running through my second winter now. Layers is definitely the way to go. I wear lined tracksuit pants, long socks, two running tops, a hoodie, a hat and gloves. This seems to work in the 30s. When we start seeing 20s I will wear running tights under my tracksuit pants. The extra weight is affecting my speed though. So I just take it slower.

I have those pants lol. They are awesome.

I got myself a few new cold weather accessories. Moisture wicking sweatband with the earflaps and ponytail hole. Love it! A moisture wicking bandana that can be work as a neck gaiter, face mask, or head covering. Wish it was a little more snug around my neck. At 35 degrees, I haven't quite needed my new balaclava yet. Oddly enough, I'm looking forward to using it. There's something about looking like a ninja that's very appealing...:D

I have that tube of material that you can use 7 ways but yeah it is loose on me too

Also got a balaclava but it will have to be pretty cold for that.

Want to do the mud run in May so got to keep training! It's only the first month I've been running in a long time since injury and still deal with plantar fasciitis and achiles tendonitis regularly but I figure I'll work with it

Sounds like we're in the same boat, AmethystJean. I've been back at it for 6 weeks after an injury that sidelined me for 3 years. I haven't had any experience with Achilles tendonitis, but I know firsthand what a pain plantar fasciitis is. Hope they both get better for you and good luck with your mud run this spring.

I'm eyeballing a few races to keep me on track through the winter. I'm not sure how long I want to give myself to train though.

Thanks Streudel. It will be my first race since Dec 26 last year. Even though I could only train in the spring, I will keep going all winter, I have to make up what I lost over the last year.
