Training for Halloween @ Disneyland

I hadn't been to Disneyland in at least 12 years and I got the bright idea of going last year for Mickey's Halloween Party. My boyfriend and I underestimated the walking...the next day we could barely move. Well this year I am getting prepared with plenty of exercise. Each day I am walking on the treadmill and each week i do a little bit more. Right now I am just keeping track of how long and not so much the distance. Starting next week I want to focus more on distance instead. Also, I plan on dressing up and want to lose some weight so I look good in my costume.

Any suggestions on walking to improve my distance?

So after much research I know how I am going to prepare for Disneyland...I'm going to train for a half-marathon that is coming up in November. I know some of you think I'm crazy but I am excited. I know I can do it, I have determination and I have the support from the boyfriend who is going to do it with me.

so here it goes....:carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:

Not crazy at all!! You can totally do it and will help you with preparing for Disney! And that's great that you have your boyfriend to help and support and do it with you!!

Well I have done my research for my Disneyland/Half-Marathon goals that I have set for myself. It is 16 weeks until my Disneyland/Palm Springs vacation and 19 weeks until my half-marathon.

So far I have found socks to help prevent blisters and the shoes that would be ideal for my foot and weight (according to the running specialist at the store) unfortunately the shoes are $170.00 and to enter the marathon it is $165.00 so this is costing me a good chunk of change. But when I compare it to my student loan bill I just got it's a drop in the bucket...student loans suck!

So here are the shoes I am thinking of getting eventually...

Hoka One One

And I have created a schedule for getting in shape. Each week I will post my schedule for the week and how it is going, not sure if anybody will read it but it will help keep me on track and accountable for my actions.

So here we go....

Update Week One

Well, my official week one will start next week. Everything was against me this week with the smoke and ash from the fire in the mountains to the rain it has not been a great time to be running in Las Vegas, and to add to it they fired someone at my work so I have to pick up the slack. So...week one will start next week.

Since I couldn't start week one I decided to be proactive and adjustment my new running schedule and get some good running shoes. Tried on several and I think I am going to stick with the Hoku One One. I went last night and tried on the Nike Lunarglide +5 and they did not work for me. I think that is because I have a chubby foot and it felt like my circulation was being cut off, so I tried a half size bigger and same thing. When I tried on the Hoku they felt amazing. My knee pain instantly went away and my foot felt great so I think I will head back to the running store tomorrow and buy them.

Well the shoes are bought and I went with the Hoka One One shoes and I think they were worth the $160. They feel like you are walking/jogging on a mattress. Went walking downtown today in them and I didn't feel any knee or ankle pain!
