So this made me curious to see what the definition of a hike was.

Dictionary definition of a hike:

1. To go on an extended walk for pleasure or exercise.

So according to the dictionary a long walk is a hike. I always assumed that it was in the wilderness only. I do get a better walk up hills on pavement.
