Does anyone else love to ride bikes?

We just got our bikes out of the barn, had the tires inflated, and went for a ride. It was so beautiful! The bike path went along a river through a woodsy area, the air was cool, the birds are singing, my legs are wobbly. There's a breeze in your face so you don't feel all hot and sweaty.

Does anyone else love to ride?

Lecomtes 06-07-2013 10:38 PM

Oh yes! Biking is my main form of exercise. I ride 6 miles to school several days a week, and my fiance and I are planning a long ride on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alene this Summer. :) Doesn't it barely feel like exercising? lol, except up those steep hills. I'd love to ride along a river like that!

I'd love to ride a bike but living in NYC it gets kinda crazy. No wooded paths and no birds singing. It's more like, watch out for that friggin cab running a red light and no paths and exhaust fumes.

Definitely! We have been figuring out a way to get a toddler seat for our 3 year old onto the back of our bikes. Well, the ones sold in the store were either too small or sat too close to the bike seat. My husband, the ever creative genius, took an old car seat and mounted it to the back of my bike. Worked out like a charm! :)

We enjoy just going for casual bike rides soaking up the sights and sounds. The kids just love it!

Just Dance Girl 06-08-2013 10:55 AM

Yes, exactly! It does barely feel like exercising! Especially when you can go on a bike path and you see different stuff than from the roads.

Wannabe, I've also done the city rides and they kind of suck, always having to stop at lights, etc. can you ride in Central Park?

Thnkthn, that's great with the kids! It's so much more fun to do it together.

We used to go on a path from our house for about an hour, stop and have coffee, then ride home. On the way out, I always felt so strong, and rode fast -- forgetting that it was slightly down hill! I paid the price going home, pushing hard in the lowest gear, lol.

This is one of my goals -- to be able to go bike riding again. We have lots of bike paths around here that were originally railroads that have been converted. But, I need to lose about another 50-75 pounds before I'll feel comfortable doing that. Oh yeah. I also need to buy a bike!

I love to bike, and just bought myself a baby blue cruiser :) I find that although it's only been two weeks, my legs are a little tighter and less jiggly.

I could but I'd have to get my bike to the park first from Queens. If I rode it I'd have to cross a bridge and ride in traffic first.

Yeah, that sounds like a drag, sorry!

We went 40 minutes up hill against the wind, and it took us only 25 minutes to return. Aaaaack! Fun, though.

fitmom 06-09-2013 08:21 AM

I ride with my kids. You forget it is a great form of exercise too. So much fun.

Lizzyg 06-09-2013 12:17 PM

Yes! I love my bike but don't get out on it as much as I should. I hope to do more this summer. I like to ride on our rail trail too - it's a paved path that runs through the woods and there are rivers and lakes along it too. It's so pretty!

I also love to ride on the mt biking trails too. We have a park with several different trails and it's so much fun!

seabiscuit 06-09-2013 10:46 PM

I like to bike too! I have to get a cap for my tire on my bike and then I will take my bike out. Right now my bike is sitting in my apartment collecting clothes, not good, I want to use it!

Thanks for the inspiration!

:carrot:

I used to ride a mountain bike--just loved it. Great exercise--and about the only time I felt cool was on the downhill sections ha.ha.

It is such a good workout - I need to get out there more this summer. I feel it everywhere after riding on the trails. I love the downhills but I also love that feeling I get when I conquer a hill after many tries!

My nephew is a major bike rider. He used to run but hurt his knee. He enter's both street and mountain bike enduro's and he works out on a spinning bike. New--they're about $275.00. You might want to check E-bay or Craig's list too for a good deal.

Biking is my favorite outdoor exercise by far - can't get enough.

Toonses 01-04-2014 10:28 PM

Bicycling is my major form of exercise as well. I try to ride 12-14 miles every other day. Since the weather has been nice here in Northern CA (we need rain) I have no down days. I am going to start taking my bike to work a couple of times per week and ride at lunch. I work in downtown Sacramento and can jump on the American River bike trail for a change of scenery. You can't beat a good hour bike ride to add some muscle and burn over 500 calories.

whollyhick 01-04-2014 11:00 PM

I absolutely love biking! We have trails in our area that are converted from closed down railroad tracks here in Western PA, and it's fantastic, my friend and I were going on 17-23 mile rides anywhere from three to five times a week! It totally shows in the thighs if you're like me and boycott bikes with gears! (Hey having one gear and pedal breaks tones like a mofo, and there's less to mechanically fail, jumping gears, stretched brake cables, plegh. Not on my bike! ;) )

Pattience 01-05-2014 05:13 PM

I don't really like riding a bike that much, except when fit, but i do love going on bike tours around the world. I've done five now and every time i lose a ton of weight. Unfortunately it usually piles back on after i come home.

I've got a current goal to join a saturday morning bike ride of 40km. Its early though and that's why i haven't gotten started yet. But i'm keeping it in my sites.

This isn't the greatest time of year to bike because of cold weather and icy streets but I am thinking about getting my bike tuned up and going out for a spin when spring comes. It's a great exercise!

I love going out on my bike when the weather is better, it's a great excuse to go out with DH as well and explore new areas of the city and find new pubs to have a drink at that we would never come across otherwise.

I have to say that I loved doing it on my basic bike, but I really enjoy it now that I've upgraded to a slightly better bike, with disc brakes and better suspension. :)

In the winter, when it's colder, I tend to use my exercise bike indoors so I can keep up my fitness levels for when spring finally comes again.

Velvet bean 01-10-2014 05:36 PM

I use my bike for conveniant transport through the city and see exercise I get from it as a pleasant side effect. But because I use it so much, it never crosses my mind to ride a bike just for the sake of it or to get on the stationary one. :)

noshoes 01-12-2014 03:58 AM

I am so keen. Might get a bike for my birthday. ! :-D
