I need motivation
Hi there, I'm new to this thread, but I'm in desperate need of exercise motivation. I could come up with every excuse in the world as to why I don't exercise. For the past month it's been that I just started Medifast so I can't exercise for a few weeks. But I'm past that now. I HAVE to start exercising. I've lost 20 pounds now but I'm still sooo out of shape.
I'm a nanny. I wake up at 5, leave the house for work at 6, get home from work at 6:15, and with Medifast you need to eat every 2.5 hours so I need to eat right around the time I get home from work. Honestly that just doesn't leave much time in the day for going to the gym! I could eat my one prepare it yourself meal at work, and just have a shake on the way home from work and go straight to the gym, but I need to actually hold myself accountable to do that. I HATE exercising. Or at least in that way. I go on daily 2 mile walks with the kids, but they enjoy walking part of the timea dthats just not much exercise lol. I do chase them around the house all day, so that's something :) Every time I've joined a gym, I've gone 3-4 times and stopped. I just get self conscious working out with all those people who can do an hour and still go strong when I'm huffing and puffing after 10 minutes. I would love a work out buddy but that's not gonna happen. I've also considered doing something quiet and non-sweaty while the kids nap, but quiet and non sweaty isn't going to get me much. So ugh, I just need to get off my lazy butt and do it! I guess I'm just looking for a little motivation lol. |
For me the energy needed to go to the gym would result in me never going. I also have a busy schedule with constant deadlines. What works for me is exercising at home. I found Jillian Michaels 18 months back and have never looked back. I recommend the 30-day shred to start with. It is a 30 min/day 6x/wek workout and it produces results. There are many other programs, but I like the effectiveness and the style. It is much easier to fit in 30 min in that the whole gym routine.

You need to find an activity you actually like. And working out from home does make it easier than having to go to the gym. If you can't find a particular activity that can keep your attention, then find things that can keep your attention while you work out. I listen to audio books or podcasts while I work out, because I need something better than music to occupy my mind while I work out. If I do something inside the house, I watch scary movies. :) They work great and give me an adrenaline boost to keep me going.
