new trainer, need advice
I work out at LA fitness and I have now gone through 4 trainers.
Most of them either get fired for one reason or another or they quit. I was going to cancel my trainer contract and just work out on my own about 3 months ago when the fired one of my trainers. The new trainer they put me with was good so I thought I'll give it another go. Well then they fired this trainer, he's going back to school and couldn't work the hours they wanted him too. So now I'm with another new trainer. This guy looks competent, says he likes training and seems professional. But I don't know I can't tell if he'd rather not work with me because I'm fat or what? He had an appointment with this girl after me and as I was leaving I had a very uncomfortable moment where she's giving me a once over and giggling. He didn't exactly laugh but I think he was trying not to. I could just be sensitive but I really wanted to belt the girl in the mouth. Should I go ahead and quit this trainer?:?: |
If he's making you feel uncomfortable, I say go ahead and quit him. You have enough to worry about when you're working out, right? You don't need any negativity from him or Mrs. Snarkypants. It's possible that you were being overly sensitive but, even if you weren't, this woman isn't worth worrying about. If you think you can work out with this trainer & feel good about it, then give him a chance. Otherwise, give him the boot & move on to someone you can work with comfortably. :)

Trust your instinct. What good is it to work out with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable?

I'm sorry you were made to feel that way dagmar. My honest opinion is to get angry & use that in your workouts...remember that B8tch that stared you down - I don't know about you but that would make me work that much harder.
As for the trainer, I truly think you should pull him aside at the beginning of your next session & have a VERY frank chat. YOU are in charge, YOU are the client, and YOU are who he needs to keep happy in order to keep his job. Maybe just say, I could be wrong but I felt like this happened and I have no problem replacing you if it did. I'm 99% sure he will fall all over himself to let you know you were mistaken and you'll never see so much as an eye roll in the future. Even if you do switch - let him know he caused it - and he's being replaced because of it. People need to be held accountable for that sh*t or they will keep doing it. I have a great relationship with my trainer & I really hope you can get to that too! Good luck!!!! |
