Ripped in 30 Support
I will be wrapping up Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred tomorrow followed by a rest day, then I plan to start Ripped in 30. I have the DVD and I'm ready to go, but I was hoping some others who are currently doing, or planning to start Ripped in 30 might want to come together for some support and encouragement and then to hopefully share some outstanding results. :grouphug:
Looking forward to this next exercise challenge! :lifter: |
I'm planning to join you on this one, but have to finish 13 more days of 30DS first.. So I'll be a little bit behind but whatever.
Can't wait to hear what you think of it! |

I'm so excited to see this thread! For some reason ripped in 30 isn't catching nearly as much popularity as 30ds even though it's the same kind of concept. I've done 30ds a few times in the past and just was not into doing something old I get bored.
Anyway, I started yesterday so today I will be on day 2 today. I want to actually take some before pics this time. Goodluck btw... I found the first workout a lot harder than the first one of 30ds, it might have been because I used 8lb weights, I will probably use the 5lbs for the rest of week1. |
Welcome luckyme0510! I noticed the same thing about RI30 not being as popular and I couldn't find a recent thread on 3FC (only 1 from over a year ago). I'm excited to get started but I'm going to make myself take my rest day tomorrow. I will also drop back to the 5 lb weights to start. I've been starting each level in 30DS with 5s (started level 1 with 3s) and moving to 8s once I get the hang of the moves, around day 3 or so.

Level 1 Day 1 done!
I really enjoyed Ripped in 30. It was definitely tough. I prefered the 3 exercise cycle on the 3 minutes of strength instead of the 2 exercises in that part of 30DS. I'm excited and I like the idea of 7 days on each level rather than 10 (I always started to feel my interest wane around day 7 or 8). I dropped down to my 5 lb weights for most of the exercises but used 8s on some of them. I only modified 1 exercise (the side lift ab one - I did with the knee support on the one leg instead of all the way up on both feet and one hand). I can say I gave it my all!!!! |
Level 1 Day 2 done! Today was my "cheat day" so I was sluggish and struggled to find my motivation, but once I got going I went for it 100%.

I bought both 30ds & ri30 and did find 30 ds seems to be more popular. Probably because it says in the title to lose weight. I think most of us want to lose weight then worry about toning. I wish I would have focused on toning much sooner cause now that I am at goal I now have a goal if being toned. Think this goal is going to take longer than the weught loss one. I just started level 2 of 30ds but will soon enough be joining u guys. I played with the idea of doing 30ds in the morning and ri30 at night instead of my usual cardio at night, but didn't get to, or was scared to get around to doing that. The shred has me skimping in the elliptical going from 50 mins to 30 to 20 and even 10 today after level 2 kicked my butt. I Originally bought both to research them and then decide which to keep. 30ds seemed like the beginner video. But have decided what's 10 bucks so I am going to unwrap it tonight, to show that I plan on doing it. I am cheap and if I open it, better believe I am gonna do it, just not until I finish the shred. Is it like the shred with 3 levels, if so might just try each level once on my off days to see what it's like. So will Forsure be joining in 21 days or 22 if I need a break. So how do u like it, is it really tough, what r the differences between the two.

Level 1 Day 3 done! I didn't modify anything today - happy dance!
|
I can see why not repeating the same exercise might be a little less boring. I hope I get to post here soon about starting ri30
|
I definitely want to give ripped in 30 a shot! I officially began day 1 of 6 Week 6 Pack this morning, I have done the exercise a few times the last few weeks to make sure I am keeping good form, but I definitely want to do Ripped in 30 too! Go girl! :cheer2:

Level 1 Day 4 down. I really tried to talk myself out of it since I have a headache (knowing exercise usually makes my headaches worse) but I pushed through and persevered.
|
Yes I have to be in a bathing suit starting near the end of May and my husband and I are taking our honeymoon (we wanted a lot of time to save money to go somewhere nice!) this fall/winter, so I have got to get my butt in gear!! I was thinking about doing Ripped in 30 or 30 Day Shred along with 6W6P.
Great job with day 4! |
Day 5 of Week/Level 1 complete! Whew, I increased my weight on several exercises and it was tough. I'm planning to do day 6 tomorrow then rest day, then on to week/level 2. I like to take a rest day each week from strength training and I noticed on the DVD that Jillian also recommends that so I'm going to maintain that strategy.
Pink Hurricane - If you want to do a Ripped and 6W6P combo together I'm game. |
I think rest days are definitely vital especially when doing strength training. And yeah I would definitely be game for doing a combo together, that would be awesome! Tomorrow morning I am going to do my first combo for sure!
|
Level 1 Day 6 done. Now for rest day tomorrow and then on to Level 2 on Friday!!! I can't wait to see what she has in store for me.
|
I'm struggling with not working out on my rest day today! What has happened to me? I used to have difficulty getting motivated to work out and now I have to fight the urge.
|
Day 1 of week 2. Boy did she kick it up a notch on this one!
|
I think it may be down to just me in this thread now :(
At any rate, I completed day 2 of week 2 and it is HARD!!!!:hot: |
Day 3 of week 2 complete! The ab exercises on this one are nuts! I'm doing the advanced on all of them and everytime I'm tempted to move to the modified version but you can't go backwards. As Jillian says, change happens when you're uncomfortable.
I'm going to start 6W6P tonight too. I think I'll add that 3 days a week (maybe every other day). We'll see how that goes. Is anyone else doing or starting RI30 or 6W6P? |
I am in the middle of 30DS and would like to try Ri30 next. Jillian is great, she sure kicks my ***! Have you been noticing results?
|
Welcome DRose! I have definitely been noticing results, both in strength/stamina and physical appearance.
I completed Week 2 Day 4 today. Yesterday I did RI30 and 6 week 6 pack which was tough. That 6W6P is no joke. My core strength has definitely improved. I can crank out those "Rocky-style" sit ups (as Jillian calls them) now with no problem whereas I couldn't have done 1 without someone holding my feet down when I first started 30 day shred. I also started 30DS with 3 lb weights and struggled. Today on RI30 I used 8 lb weights for everything and 10s for 1 exercise so definite strength gains happening. I'm also not using the "modifications anymore. |
Day 5 of week 2 complete. I have 1 more day left on this level and then a rest day before moving to week 3.
|
Hey bunnabear! Glad to see you are sticking with it! Can't wait to hear about your results.
As for me... Well I realized why there aren't many threads on this video. I think it's an amazing routine but when I reached week 2 I was not able to perform some of the exercises not because of my abilities but literally it was physically impossible due to my weight/proportions. For instance the move where you lift your butt off the floor and move your hips out and up. My butt is too big and my arms are too short. I had similar type issues with some other moves and if I'm only going to work out for half hour I can't afford to waist time by skipping moves. I am doing banish fat boost metabolism and no more trouble zones which are about 45 minutes and I can do all the moves. My new official mini goal is to lose enough weight to be able to do all the exercises and complete ripped in 30. |

Today is my rest day, then on to Week 3! |
I completed my first day of Week 3 today and it was definitely a completely different level of difficult. I am afraid of what my body will feel like tomorrow. It was most certainly a test of my motivation to complete this plan, but I got through day 1. I shudder to think what Week 4 will bring. I'm longing for my days of 30 Day Shred.
|
Good news, I'm functional today. Sore, but functional. I'm hoping I can soldier on through day 2.
Update: Day 2 complete!!!! |
Day 3 of week 3 done. I reached a milestone today. There is a move in week three where you start from a standing position, go down onto your bottom, then roll back onto your back, perform a reverse crunch with legs straight in the air, then roll back up to standing. Today was the first time I was able to do that move without using my hands to assist me back up. I even added the jump at the end. It was a proud moment.
|
I completed Ripped in 30 yesterday. Whew, it was tough!
|
My results with RI30 weren't as dramatic as what I saw with 30DS, but I'll take it. I can definitely tell that I toned up a lot.
Weight lost: 5 pounds Inches lost: Chest - 0.5 inches Waist - minimal change Gut - 0.5 inches lost Hips - minimal change Thighs - minimal change/0.25 inches Arms - no change |
