Setups
I am nearly 64 and mother of ten. I would really like to be able to do a setup but I can't. I do crunches but I would like to be able to go all the way up on a setup. How can I learn this?
|
If you mean a «sit-ups», it's actually not necessary to do a full sit-up to get the benefits... Full sit-ups are actually not good for your back...Here is a great article explaining why regular sit-ups and crunches are not good and why core workouts are better...
Hope this helps... |
I agree, sit ups aren't the main thing here. If you work on other core strengthening exercises for a while and then try a sit up, you'll be amazed and find you're much closer or can already do it. But I wouldn't advise regular sit-ups.

I would even advise against doing crunches - there are so many better core exercises out there. The core is more than just your "gut".

yeah, I was reading a book recently that mentioned crunches and sit ups are high risk, low reward in terms of exercises. Things like planks, roll outs and other things give you much higher benefit.

Thanks, everybody. I checked back once and there were no responses so I forgot about it until now!!!

Ok, I have ten kids and I'm almost 64 with a belly that has been there for years. Is there any hope? What exercises should I do beside the ones mentioned. Thanks ahead of time.

Carol - after 10 kids, I don't reckon things will ever get back to 'the way they were' - but doing activities to strengthen your core muscles - those the trunk part of your body have so many benefits! Including making everyday life easier.
Check out Pilates which concentrates on those areas a lot and tends to have a big impact on shape. |
The you won't lose the belly fat either by situps, crunches or core workouts... losing fat wheter it be belly or otherwise is all about the food you eat and the cardio you do, also sometimes we are predisposed to having fat in certain areas...
