How long before you saw a difference?

How long after you started exercising did you notice any weight loss/slimming down, either by weighing in or the way your clothes fit?

I've been going to gyms previously. The last time around I was going 2-3 days a week the first 3 weeks, after that it became a bit more sporadic, like once a week, or twice one week, nothing the week after, and 3 times the week after that and then nothing again.
I never saw any progress though, possibly I gained some strength in some areas, but no weight loss and clothes didn't feel any looser.
I know I didn't go for very long, but it was just so discouraging when nothing happened. I've never had to lose weight before so I really don't know how long it usually takes for a change to happen.

I'd be good to know approximately how long it's "normal" to wait before you notice a change, so if after 1 month nothing has happened, I don't lose hope and give up again. :?:

i started at my gym last october and i started running for the first time in my life...i was working out HARD at least 5 days a week with my running...while i thought i could maybe see a difference in my body, my mind often plays tricks on me...for example, i still often feel just as fat at 185 as i did at 230 pounds :(...finally in mid december that year, my body finally let go of some weight and i dropped 10 pounds in 3 days and never gained it back...so for me it took 7-8 weeks going faithfully nearly every day and working out HARD for it to finally show on the scale

i still do my running about 5 days a week and i still work out HARD each time that i'm there....and i've been doing that for a little over a year now

Wow! That's very impressive. I'm honestly not sure if I could manage going 5 days a week at the beginning and working that hard every time. Nicely done! It's good to know that it can take up to 2 months for it to show on the scale, feels like an eternity though. Last time I was a member of a gym 2 weeks felt like forever when nothing happened. :halfempty

About 6-8 weeks. Although, honestly I saw VERY visible progress after 3-4 months of weight training. It takes time like anything else in life but once you start seeing the fruits of your labor, that will spur you on to continue.
