Does anyone use a sauna?

Went to the gym last Friday night, swam, used the hot tub then sauna. I haven't been in a sauna since college...I slept soooo good that night! Curious if anyone uses the sauna? I'm thinking of going in for a little bit after each work out now!

I'm a big believer in the health benefits of saunas... not to mention the incredible sense of relaxation that I experience when I use them as well... I grew up with them and we had one in our home and now I have one in my home as well...I take saunas at least a few times a week, sometimes more... I alternate between 20 minutes or so in the sauna, followed by cooling down with a cool shower or a dip in the pool... or I have even rolled around in the snow in the winter... and I'll repeat that like 2 or 3 times... Talk about invigorating! I always feel so relaxed and calm for the rest of the evening... It really is amazing...

Enjoy!

my husband swears by saunas, he always feels worse when he goes without using one for a period of time, he says it' helps his muscles recover from working out and likes the fact that he can sweat out a bunch of junk

I've heard good things about saunas but I'm not a huge fan, maybe I'll try one again.

When I'm not in a hurry I use the sauna at my gym after a work-out. Did not have a clue about health benefits, but I guess it makes sense that it helps your muscles recover!

I actually don't use sauna right after hard workouts or races... I actually think heat immediately after a workout can slow muscle recovery... In those instances I prefer cold hydrotherapy, even including immersion in an ice bath...but definitely not for the faint of heart :)

The health benefits that I like saunas for are the sweating and possible resultant removal of toxins, the relaxation and stress reducing that it produces in me... and this is completely anecdotal, but I swear that I get fewer colds in the winter when I'm consistently using my sauna...

So glad to see that everyone likes the sauna! I was wondering if it really does help with toxins? I feel the urge to swim tomorrow, hit the hottub and sauna, and just bounce back and forth between the 3 for as long as I please :)

I don't belong to the gym currently but to have a sauna at home-what a treat that would be. I have read other forums where a couple ppl do. I haven't been in one in so many years.
