Recumbant bike?

  • I really wanna start working out. I don't to exercise videos (uncoordinated) and am a SAH mom without a car. I was thinking about purchasing a stationary recumbent bike because I can't afford a decent treadmill and I do like riding a bike (though I can't do that much now, since I have a 3 and 5 year old). Do they provide a pretty sufficient workout? Is there an advantage of a recumbent one vs. an upright? I read somewhere that basically they're more comfortable, but do they provide as good as a workout as the other?
  • I have a recumbent bike and it's really helpful. While it is not my only physical activity, it's probably the one I rely on the most. It's particularly good for my arthritis. When I first got it, I could only ride it for 5 minutes. Now, I'm up to 30 minutes on an interval program. I've found it to be worth every penny.
