Thank you Kaplods, your input has helped me a lot. When I went grocery shopping this afternoon I looked at what my local walmart had. This one is the one I think I want:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Schwinn-Cl...-Bike/15711184 It seems to be a pretty sturdy bike. I took into consideration all the things you listed. The reasons for me picking this particular bike is the seat is big, practically everything on it is metal, it has only 7 speeds. I think just having 7 speeds will be good for me because I'm not good at figuring out the gears. |
If I remember correctly, we were told that virtually all of the Schwinn bikes for adults would be excellent choices. Our Walmart only carried one or two style in the Schwinns for women and I don't remember why, but I didn't like them (or they were outside our budget at the time).

To the OP, I don't think you're too big to ride a bike. We are about the same size and I think with a good sturdy bike, the tires will be OK. The only issue I can see would be the seat and that can be changed to whatever suits you best. As soon as I get my bike I will let you know how it is. Come back and let us know how your experience is if/when you start riding.

OP, get out there and ride! It is a lot of fun, will help greatly with weight and fitness, and you are NOT too big.
