Morning all,
AC is hanging in there and sleep was good. We're headed for 97 today! One benefit to moving furniture for painting is I've found an arrangement that created a perfect exercise space. Win-Win. Stay cool and OP everyone :carrot: |
Happy HumpDay!
I'm staying home from work today! I didn't wake up till around 7:30 which would make me late and then I was like forget it and called out. The heat index is over a 100 degrees today and I'm home in my central air....ahhhh. I just closed the blinds to block some of the sun and I plan to have a relaxing day. gabi, wow you are busy. Try not to be stressed and enjoy your kid-free time. exhale, that is wise to wait for the heat to break so you can open the windows. Sounds like you are almost done. Since I am home, I plan to do a workout later. Stay cool to those in hot weather. BBL |
Hey Philly, better than Hump Day - today's Thursday!
I got a lot of paperwork/computer stuff done today, finished about an hour ago. But no exercise, and I had take-out eggplant parm for dinner. Couldn't think to make a salad for myself. The only good thing I did for my health was have some really good strawberries, and stay cool enough to not pass out. Tomorrow's another (hopefully cooler) day. |
I've just realized something epic, ladies.
The only thing I feel I have control of in my life right now is what I put in my mouth. I can't control whether my dad loses his job and moves us out of state, and my mom saying I HAVE to go with them even though by the time it happens I'll be near 20 and in college. I can't control what happened today in my counseling session and how my therapist thinks we might be close to terminating. I can't control either of those things, or many more. But I can control this diet. That feels so good to me right now. Hope you guys had a good day. The rain has stopped and it is in the low 70s outside :) |
LOL Exhale! I was thinking that when I just looked to see who posted today. I was supposed to exercise, but feared getting overheated and had bad thoughts of my air conditioner stopping. I know its irrational, but that was my day. The evening snacking continues and I really didn't have much to eat today. At least my snack option tonight was stove cooked popcorn. I love cooking it in coconut oil and adding spices to the pan and then putting the popcorn in. It seasons the popcorn so well this way.
I'm off to put new stuff on my new 64gig card for my tablet. |
It's been a crazy week but I got Jillian done tonight. Goodnight, ladies.

Good morning all! Happy Friday :)
Maxwell house instant + water + ice + cinnamon + blender = nice foamy iced coffee :) McMurphy, sounds like you have a lot on your plate, so to speak. But maybe you can control more than you realize...Don't sell yourself short. But a healthy diet is a huge step toward so much good stuff coming your way ! Novangel - it has clicked for you big time :carrot: Philly, I keep checking the forecast - maybe this heat will break in a couple of days. I'm in a slump with the painting hanging, and bedroom stuff in the living room...ugh! But, to borrow from McMurphy - I can't control the weather, I can control my food. And, I WAS doing so well with my classes :rollpin: and feeling great and happy about it and I wasn't looking for physical improvement - although I need it, if you know what I mean. It was just fun. So, diet for weight loss, exercise for fun. Why do I need more than feeling good as my carrot? Why the stick? I keep getting this dread factor creeping up...but, even if I can get in half of what they're doing on a dvd, that's still my working out. Can't go from zero to sixty, go from zero to twenty, then thirty - and here I know I'm selling myself short.....What is up with that? This slump has got to break before the weather does. Today is day one... |
Thanks Exhale I'm really trying. I want to be "fit" in the worst way...My ex got me a bit off track this week with exercise but I'm beginning to pull it back together. I said from the beginning I refuse to give up, now I have come too far to ever go back.
Have a nice day everyone, I'm off work and going to the pool. ;) Keep going! |
I processed phase 3 of body revolution on my computer last night and was really getting inspired to do the program again. I'm still on the facebook page and really love the results that people are getting. I know it to be true because I've been following the posts for a while. I'm heavily leaning towards starting that program again.
I want us to have a challenge, but I fear that Gabi will wipe the floor with us. :D Strangely, that will give me incentive. I'm in a challenge on another site, but the are so very boring. There's hardly any conversation going on which is not encouraging to me. Anyway, back to a challenge for us. Since one part of the puzzle seems to fall for many of us my first thought is for us to have a point system and have a max point for tracking such as this... water=8 | fruit=2 | veggies=3 | good nutrition day=5 | exercise=1 | sleep=1 Total: 20 These are just base figures I kinda pulled out of the air...such as 8 glasses of water....2 servings of fruit, etc. We can make it more fun and maybe have like a horse race and whoever has the most points is the winner for the week. To make participating even sweeter....I'm thinking of giving away a prize at the end of the month. To be eligible to participate you have to be a consistent poster on this thread. I think we've all been pretty honest with posting the good and the bad and I expect we will continue and not fabricate to get more points :^: I was thinking of starting on Monday when Gabi comes back from her kid free weekend. Thoughts? |
Hey Philly, I like your idea! Gabi is on an awesome warrior princess streak. But all the more incentive :)
My thought would be to have a couple of things each month, like July would be exercise, water, fruit; August would be exercise, veggies, lean protein. We could also incorporate work on a specific body part each month, like July would be whatever exercise we're doing, adding to that a couple of moves to tweak the shoulders, water, fruit... But whatever we chose is great - it's ALL good :) Thanks for taking the lead :) It's starting to thunder here....Thank goodness. |
I LIKE IT!!
Oh no to the thunder. I have 45 minutes to go before my work day ends. I was afraid of being shut down because we each have some type of issues we are dealing with regarding food/body image, etc and I thought this might be too much pressure. But, Yay!! Now to wait to hear from others. To add on to Exhale, if you are in for the challenge post your weakness. Mine is working abs and doing push ups. |
I did Walk Away the Pounds 1mile yesterday. I'm not sure if I will exercise today since I'm leaving to go shopping in a few minutes and will probably be out for hours (looking at new fridges on top of grocery shopping and other errands). But it's nearly 3pm and I haven't had a chance to eat yet so I'll probably be way under my calories anyway.
If I continue to participate in the thread will I have to participate in the challenge too? I like the idea, but I'm afraid with the way I've been feeling I won't be able to join in. I don't mind backing out of the thread, since I know I haven't contributed much lately. |
:carrot::carrot: I'm so psyched - got a 6-pound medicine ball at Modell's today. Got it for one of my dvds, but it also comes with a dvd. Already did some upper body work with it - it's only six pounds but it is heavy. Six pounds doesn't seem like so much to lose, but it's heavy.
My personal challenge is to get through 3 weeks of consistent exercise. Starting today. The ticker won't start at zero, so I put myself down for the first week and refuse to delete it! Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the group is up for. This is super :) Have a great weekend. :lifter: |
Thanks @Exhale - I agree and I'm excited for the healthy payoffs :carrot:
Wish I could do my cycling now since it's just lightly raining, but the temperature still hasn't dropped. I'm going on vacation to the UP this week and am going to bring my bike with me. Being so early on in my effort to exercise, I'm worried that I wouldn't stick with it if I missed an entire week of workouts. A trip through the forests will be nice! |
McMurphy, what's 'UP' ?
I think it's great that you're bringing your bike with you. I never understood folks who take vacation from working out on vacation, since on vacation we typically have more time for ourselves and more access to exercise opportunities. |
