decent sports bra?
 

Hi ladies,

I did a search because I'm sure that this question must have been asked previously, but I didn't come up with results. So, here I am.

I've always just bought sports bras from Kohls or Target. They always squish me and when I see myself in the mirror, they make my chests look like some artificial hump in the middle of the front of me that's about to erupt all alien like.

Anyway. Are there are sports bras that are made to support, and lift and separate.. if you know what I mean?

I wear a pretty "normal" size, I think... 38-40 C, sometimes a D. I just don't want to be smooshed and squished so abnormally.

I'm a 38C and found the Champion sports bras to be pretty comfortable. They don't seem to 'dig' into my shoulders and they give me the support I need. I think sports bras are suppose to kind of 'squish' the girls in, so they're not all flapping around if you're running or jumping. I only ever wear the sports bras if I'm doing exercises like that, for everything I wear a regular bra (bali underwire but one of the wires snapped so I downgraded the bra to an exercise one).

I've heard good things about the Enell ones, but they are a bit pricey and if you are losing weight you might "outgrow" (is there a word for when you get too small for clothes?) them soon.

I take the cheap Target,Walmart or Champion bras and wear 2 at a time..sometimes the first one will be an XL and the second one a large/medium... it sorta works, lol.

Poke around at title9sports.com or x-chrom.com. There are lots of lift-and-separate sports bras in your size range. (They are not, however, in Target/Kohls price range.)

I had a friend that had a hard time finding a good sports bra. Many people recommended Enell but she couldn't find one that fit quite right. She ended up really liking the Fiona bra by Moving Comfort that lin43 just mentioned.

I know at the moment Moving comfort has it marked down on its site in certain colors, plus if you get on sierra trading post's email list (they send out email like daily though so dont send it somewhere you dont want a lot of mail) with the right coupon code can get it for 20-22ish shipped - but the coupon codes/shipping costs are always different, just have to look for the 'right' ones. :)

Marshalls carry good ones that are cheap. And theres a nike outlet near me that have them for $20-25.

There are a lot of great sports bras on the market but the ones you're going to have BY FAR the best luck with go by your bra size. Also, please make sure your have your bra size correct first!!! Is your underbust 38"? Have you measured it recently? If not measure it and remember that your underbust is your band size! The support you need from a sports bra (or any bra from that matter) comes from a TIGHT band so if you're in a too big band that you're not going to get enough support even from the best sports bra. All that being said some sports bras do right very tight in the bands so I've had to use an extendering or size up a band size but that depends on the brand itself.

At the moment I use a Freya Active sports bra (this is one that has a very tight band and I actually use an extender). I have almost no bounce at all. Granted, I lift and can't run/bike or anything due to knee problems but considering that I'm a 30GG/H it's really surprising that it's that stable! :D

I really like the Moving Comfort Fiona as well. I am about to order my 3rd one because my current is too big.

Ditto to everything here. Make sure you are sized properly, no matter which bra you get. I also use a Freya Active bra, and a Shock absorber. I'm a 34G, so... :)

I tried on an Enell and I hated it because it had no adjustability. Didn't like the compression style.

try Rhonda Sheer Ahh Bra, i have it and it gives me lot of support, which can be found on classic shapewear site.

The one thing you did not mention was the amount of impact you were planing to do. Sometimes you have to kind of smooch them to hold them down if you are doing high impact depending on your size oother time you can wear a nicer looking one when you are not going to have alot of bounce.
