On top of that, I place my laptop, remote controllers, sometimes a beverage, etc. The most important thing being my laptop, which I am using right now. I tend to walk at 2 mph, and I have no trouble typing at that speed. For a while, I did try running with inspiring youtube videos, but that was too far too fast for me and I found I didn't want to keep that up. I may try that again as a slower break-in in the future. But for now, my rule is that I spend at least 2 hours walking at 2 mph a day. Some days I spend a lot more time on the treadmill at various speeds. Other days, I go into work (where I stand at my desk, by choice. I only go in 2 days/week and I don't see any possibility of having a treadmill there, but I would love one there too). Quote:
Sorry, I'm picture-challenged. Maybe when I get my new phone (current one just broke). Dropping something on the treadmill is a risk, I suppose. I think that's why the official treadmill desks cap the speed at .5 mph. But I'm not planning on practicing my juggling skills. Usually, the trickiest think I attempt is a sip of a drink or a setting change on a remote. So far, so good! |
So after one full week I managed just over 35 miles and felt better than I've felt in a long time. I ended up at a pace of 2.5 mph most of the time and that worked great for me at least after I warmed up. I also got a surprise yesterday , my husband was so happy that I was actually doing this that he built me a wooden desk with strategic holes driven in for zip ties :) I'll post pics soon of my desk (ghetto) and the one he made (he even painted little running girls on it).
I know for me spousal support is huge and being that he has not touched his saw we got 5 years ago or to my knowledge any other in the 8+ yrs I've known him his gift was awesome(and not asked for which makes it better) .... So while he won't go to the gym with me or get enthusiastic about grilled chicken he found his way to support. |

The pink one was made of tape and insulation material I found in the garage , it took about 10 mins.
The black one is the one my husband made me (lots longer than 10 mins and a trip to the hardware store.) |

I LOVE the desk idea! I suggested the idea to my boss (who works in the office, but does a lot of work at home) and he loved the idea! I mentioned the idea to my bf and he found this: http://www.treadmilldeskinc.com/shadow.html It's a bit pricey (and they only go up from there!) but we don't have a treadmill at all, so if we decide to get one, we might go that route, depending on finances... Regardless, though, it's a fantastic idea! |
That sounds so dorky, haha... I want to be able to get a tread/desk but that'd be hard to casually explain to guests lol. Good for you though, it sounds like a lot of fun!!
