I finally stopped thinking about doing it and just DID IT!

I finally brought myself to work out in the first time in months, maybe even closer to a year. I've spent the last few months thinking of what I'd do for exercise and spent almost a thousand dollars on different equipment, DVDs, and even bought a Nintendo Wii with games thinking I'll do it. Well today I finally said screw it and threw on some sneakers and did my Walk Away The Pounds 1 mile DVD. Granted it was only 18 minutes, it's more intentional exercise than I've done in a long time AND I can say that I walked for a mile today. I think what kept me back was that I always thought if I wasn't panting for air after a workout and doing something very strenuous then there's no point for me working out. I was always discouraged because I figured "well I can't jump on my elliptical and knock out 7 miles in 30 minutes like such and such so whatever". Just doing that one mile of WATP got my heart rate up and even though I wasn't pouring sweat, I DID sweat.

I can now say that I'm a fan of her series and look forward to gradually increasing my miles! I just had to share that with someone lol
:D

:yay:

I think her best videos of all time are her two mile walk and four mile walk in her Deluxe Walk DVD. In her more recent videos she sticks closely to the basic 4 steps and just adds a jog or some walkbooster. But with those workouts she finds a ton of variations of the four basic steps, plus she uses the arms more, and you sweat (well, at least I do).

Good luck!

Thanks!

The DVD I have of hers is a 4 on one DVD so I can gradually go up to 4 miles. I also have the Walk Away Your Waistline one that comes with some funky walk belt. I'm considering getting that Punch Up Your Walk one eventually. :)

VirgoChic, Good job on exercising today! I had her Punch Up your Walk and frankly it was pretty boring, and doesn't actually use the gloves very much. I was disappointed with it.

I like her Walk Slim series the best. but I bought most of the the workouts individually from Walmart/Target. The setting is pretty dark but the workouts are fun, energetic, and most include 'boosted walking" {read: jogging} but she always has someone who modifies with a walk. http://www.totalfitnessdvds.com/LESL...SET-p/2012.htm

Great job! That's such excellent news ^^

I'm a fan of the WATP dvds. Even keeping the beat is a good workout.

Pathwork thanks for the link! I'll definitely look into it so I can have a variety of her videos to choose from on a daily basis. I actually feel like her series is one I can stick with! :) Thanks for the heads up about the Punch up DVD.

Thanks Lovely! I did find that coordinating my pace to the music was in itself a workout and I found myself basing my stride more on the music than the people in the video. I haven't looked at the other videos included on the DVD yet but I hope they have background music that corresponds with the pace of walking or I'll get all uncoordinated lol. Btw, I noticed your ticker is moving in the right direction. Congrats on your loss!

Great job! I'm one of those 'hate to work out' types. I started by just dieting and realized that it wasn't doing anything for me. I'd come home from work and just dread working out...until I FORCED myself. Now I feel very guilty if I don't work out...even if I'm dreading it. I dread the guilt even more...and once it's over I feel accomplished. It ends up being addicting!

I hope one day I can say I'm addicted to exercise. For now I still hate doing it lol

Leslie does use the music to set the pace for her walks. The faster the music the faster the walks, but its also very easy to modify her workouts, by using smaller range of motion in the feet or arms or not using the arms at all, or you can go the opposite way by adding arms if she doesn't and taking bigger steps plus adding little hops to sidesteps or jogging while everyone else walks. She's so bubbly and perky the time just slips past; although I do prefer the workouts when she's with a group, such as the 3 Mile Walk away your Waistline. I don't have the belt but I like the workout.
