Does anyone workout on their lunch break??

I work 12 hr shifts and have an hour long commute... so I find it hard to work out when I get home and even harder to wake up early to work out because it usually means getting only about 6hrs of sleep a night...

Tonight, I'm bringing my music and a change of clothes to go for a run during my lunch hour...

Does anyone else use their lunch break during work to fit in their exercise? I'm hoping that it will not only be a convenient time to do it but it will also cut down on the night-shift munching...

I get too sweaty and we don't have a shower where I work or I would. I've been thinking about a 15 minute brisk walk after lunch.

When I was teaching, my prep was right after lunch, so I had apprx 70 min for both. I worked out then every day. LOVED it!

Now, I work at a gym. There are many regulars who come in on their lunch hour.

I don't know when they actually eat, but working out on your lunch hour can be easily obtained by supplimenting with protein bars or shakes and such before and after. Working out on the lunch hour would probably be preventative for over consuming lunch calories, plus, the energy it gives you back afterward is extremely beneficial!

Add to all that, you will surely fall fast asleep at night and get better rest during your sleep.

I'm so happy for you! Great idea to use your time!

I work for a veterinarian, so looks are not a problem. Given the schedule that my hub and I keep, and the farm, lunch is the best time for me to workout. And I do enjoy it. Ya just have to do what works for you.

My old office had a "walk at lunch" program that encouraged people to use their 30 minutes to take a brisk walk. It was in the middle of the downtown area on a hill. Can't say if it worked for people as I never partook (didn't care at the time), but it's never a bad idea.

I sometimes take walks during lunch break, but I've been undisciplined about that lately due to the "sweaty beast" factor.

I always did, either during my noon break or my 3am break (I was very lucky to have a gym inside my work). I made it a rule to workout on every work day and it helped me stay on plan during long shifts too.

I lift weights 3x a week during my lunch hour. I work at a university and have access to the gym (I do have to pay for it though). I usually run to and from it. I'm pretty sure people are staring at the old lady running across the mall...

Yes. Fits my schedule the best to work it into the middle of the day, and I like to break up that long stretch of sitting time. It helps that I have 90 minute lunch break.

I have to avoid that sweaty thing too but I have found that I can walk without getting all sweaty. I walk at lunch. I also take a 10 minute break most mornings and afternoons and walk up and down a couple of flights of stairs. It makes a difference.

I do Pilates and Yoga and the occasional On-the-Ball class at work over lunch. The OTB class gets me wayyyyy too sweaty, though. There's nothing grosser than getting back into your office clothes and sitting in your own sweat until you cool down.

I work out on my lunch hour - today I ran 2.5 miles. The days I can't get outside, I usually do a workout video in a conference room that isn't being used. I don't love getting sweaty, but this time of year the building is kept ice cold with the AC, so when I come in all sweaty it seems to instantly dry me...

I do too. My work offers exercise classes at the noon hour so twice a week I swim and twice a week I have a bootcamp. It's kind of gross getting so sweaty during bootcamp and then going back to work - but I just use lots of baby wipes and baby powder (that sounds so gross -- but my other coworkers do the same thing, so that makes it seem acceptable, haha).
I like the lunch time workout because it gets me out of my cubicle for a bit and breaks up my work day.
Hope it works out for you!

I've just started jogging at lunchtimes with a group of colleagues. Our office is next to a park, so we jog round the lake and stop to use the outdoor exercise equipment installed in the park (rowing machines etc). Fortunately, we have showers as our employer encourages staff to cycle to work.
