Exercise?! What Exercise?!

  • Hello all,

    I am having a lot of trouble getting into doing exercise recently! I have no motivation to do it at all. I have many workout dvds, equipment, gym ball etc and plenty of time to do it. Two weeks ago, I was working out everyday, whether that was yogalates, cardio, whatever...then...i moved home for the summer.. I have done literally nothing since coming home. I have eaten badly aswell to some degree..well for example yesterday I consumed 1177 calories, but they were not the healthiest calories at all and with no exercise i feel like soon i am going to slip back to the way i was eating before. I don't know why my motivation has gone, i know though that when i have done it, i feel so energized and motivated to carry on but now I can't even bring myself to go for a walk down the street. I feel so guilty and full of regret, yet I am still sitting here s i was yesterday and the day before?!

    How do you motivate yourself when you feel like this? Any advice would be great!!

  • two things: (no, wait - THREE things)

    1.) Do what you enjoy. What physcial activities do you LIKE to do? I have been doing the running thing. I like that I can do it anywhere (even on vaca!) and I have been running with friends and doing 5k's, etc. Do you like swimming? Biking? Gardening? Volleyball?

    2.) Sign up for a class. Pilates, Spin, Zumba - whatever tickles your fancy. It is easier to go exercise when you have paid extra money and people are expecting you.

    3.) Sometimes (this is the suck part) you just have to make the decision to get up and go do it. When your motivation to do it wanes, this is where your commitment to doing it has to take over. Don't think about it. Just get up. Put on your shorts. Put on your sneaks. Go. Do. It.
