Default Excited - have to share

As many of you know from other posts the last few months, running is pretty much a struggle for me. I had been doing pretty well on the treadmill, but moving outside was a disaster. It was hard and uncomfortable - the longest I was able to run was 1/2 mile.

So I haven't been running. Other exercises and long walks with the dogs (we are training them to wear their new backpacks filled with stuff so they can carry their own water and food when we hike), but not running.

I'm not sure what got into me this week, but I decided on Tuesday to try running outside on my lunch hour. I started and it was better then I remembered. I actually was able to run 20 minutes straight and was pretty happy with myself. So Thursday I went out again. It was much more humid out, and I was still a bit sore, so it felt harder, but I ran a little further - 23 minutes. I honestly had NO idea how far I ran - I was thinking around a mile. Last night we mapped my travels and I ran 1.8 miles! Now I know that isn't all that far, but for me it was a breakthrough!

There is a 5K in September that I have been thinking about, but thought it could never happen, but now I'm thinking if I can do 1.8 my second time out, 3 is definitely possible, right?
