10k!!

So... I ran my first 10k race yesterday morning. I wanted to do it in under 1:30 and I ASSUMED I would be last. (Which was fine by me - I just wanted to DO it.)

at 3 miles - my time was 33:26
at 4 - it was 46:46 (I don't think I have ever done four miles that fast)

Then... came mile marker 5. From #5 to #6 it was ALL UP HILL. Gah! It was rough.

But I finished with a time of 1:18:40 :carrot: And there were TWO people behind me! (Yay! I wasn't last!!)

Ok... I am ready to do another one!!

Congrats!!!! That's so exciting. I'm almost finished with c25k, and looking to start the bridge to 10k soon :)

Scraver, this is SO inspiring! Sounds like you and I run at a similar pace. I've done 2 5K's in the last month (35 min, 36 min) and have one this weekend. I'm getting ready for a 10K in September that is VERY hilly. I'm alternating some longer runs(up to 4 miles now) with some hills. The fact that your LAST mile was up hill and you finished so far ahead of your goal is AWESOME!

Congratulations! Awesome job! Had you already ran 5K races? How long have you been running? I started near the end of January, ran my first 5K in March 34:09, my second in May 29:28, and am thinking about training for a 10K. The most I have ran is 5.3 miles at this point. Again, great running, you should be proud!

aimeebell: My sister's name is Amy Bell. Lol!
I have been wokring on my running consistantly since Sept. 2009. I did my first 5k in April 2010 (time was 38:50). I did another in June 2010, one in August 2010, one in October 2010. (I am hooked!) The last one I did was my best time of 34:26 in April (The same one I did last year, which was my very first!)

The most I usually do when exercising is about 4.5 miles. I did a couple longer runs and got the itch to do the 10k. So I didn't really do any "training" specifically for the 10k other than a couple of runs of 10k so I knew what I was in for.

You could TOTALLY do a 10k. Do it!!
