Default Lack of soreness = not working hard enough??

I have convinced myself that if I am not super sore in the morning I am not working hard enough.

I am doing 500 calories worth of cardio five days a week, this usually takes about 45mins. Intermittent strength training for 20ish min dependent on schedule. Not even close to sore.

Scale has not budged. Extremely frustrated as food intake has been clean and minimal.

What does it take...doubling this routine? Daily 1.5 hrs of cardio 800-900 calories, plus abs, pilates and strength training? I have convinced myself the only way to lose weight is get used to the idea of working out five days a week for two hours.

Thoughts please.

Erg Annoyed.

Being sore or not being sore does not mean you did or did not get a good workout.

Being sore means you have DOMS.

Nope I don't walk away sore from workouts but I burn anywhere between 300- 700 calories per workout- my heart rate getting up lets me know I'm doing a good workout

I can't remember the last time I had sore muscles from a work out. I ran 6 miles the other day (longest distance ever) with LOTS of hills and I thought FOR SURE I would be sore the next day... nope.

I was digging in my yard and all the bending over made my hammies sore.

JohnP, good info on your link.

Slayrick, without knowing your history and just based on what you listed as your latest exercise, I think you could amp it up. Not the cardio. Amp up the weights. It takes me 90 for full body weight training, and that's doing it fast. What are you doing in your 20 minutes of strength training?

Perhaps you are eating too little? Losing weight is very difficult when one doesn't get enough calories/nutrition. Do you know what your caloric intake is?

You don't have to be sore to get a good work out. That being said, if you really want to be sore you will probably have to try new exercises which will work muscles differently than they are used to.

You're doing a good job, don't convince yourself you aren't.

If you are too sore the next day, you could actually be damaging your muscles and hurting yourself in the long run.

I have days where I am tender, but that is due to trying to new work out or uping my reps. Good luck with your work outs.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

A lot of people think if they restrict all of their calories, they will lose faster, it is not true. I am 164, and my minimum daily caloric needs with working out is 1500!

So true! Look up muscle anatomy to see which muscles you've been neglecting and work on those. I'm sure you'll feel it!
