Whoa...low blood pressure
I have greatly enjoyed watching my BP come down from a typical reading of 155/105 to a typical reading of 116/64. Yay me. :carrot:
But today, my reading was 101/55. That's really low! I have no symptoms of BP that's too low, so I'm thinking I shouldn't worry about it, but sheesh. Also, lately my normal RHR is 46 and today is was 59. Does anyone know much about lower BP and athletes and whether or not this is a concern? |
Low blood pressure is only a problem if you have symptoms. Otherwise, it's not something you need to worry about.

Are you dehydrated at all or have you been sick lately?
I don't know how much you exercise, but it's not unusual for athletes to have resting heart rates in the 40s and lower blood pressure. I know people who have blood pressure that is consistently 90/60 and it's normal for them, so changes from your norm are what you really have to look out for. That said, I don't know how much of a change would just be a normal fluctuation. If you're not feeling lightheaded or have any symptoms, I would just drink some water, take it easy and check it again later. |
I agree with the others, as long as you have no other symptoms you're okay.
My normal resting blood pressure (since losing weight) is 92/65 with a RHR around 50. |
Wow, Kelly, that's low. I think. My new "normal" is exactly what it was in high school, so dipping below that seems crazy. And I think my HR of 46 is indicative of me not eating enough and stalling things out. It's just a guess. I'm just not sure 46 is healthy for me, so I was kind of happy to see the 59 today.
But, I have no other symptoms, so I'll take this as another indication of good health. :D |
