How Often Do You Switch Up Your Exercise?
I have been doing the P90 DVD (1&2) 4-6 days a week for the past 6 weeks. I have looked at the next DVD (3&4) and it looks to be about the same exercises just more and maybe more intense. I am getting a bit bored with these exercises even though I am seeing good results (better stamina, more muscles, ect). I have thought about moving on to the next DVD I mention above but like I said, I am getting bored with it. Does that mean that my muscles are getting used to/bored as well? I don't know if I am making any sense. I quess I just want some input on switching things up and maybe some advice on different DVD workouts. I don't like dancy type or jumping around and I am short on time (less than and hour a day).
Sorry if this is a bit rambling. Thanks for your advice. |
If they are changing intensity, your muscles are still getting challenged. The P90 program is geared toward increasing intensity as you go.
That said, if you're bored, that's no good! You might try mixing in other programs to keep yourself interested. I mix things up pretty regularly, doing different cardio/weight lifting routines/treadmill programs, because I do get easily bored. |
But that's not the way you are supposed to use the P90X DVD's. Tony specifically talks about "muscle confusion" and there is a system to his madness. You are supposed to rotate all the DVD's in the suggested order so that you exercise your entire body evenly and give the individual muscles time to recover from the strenuous exercise.

i've only started my workouts a little over a month ago...but from previous "dieting" i do know that if i dont change up my workouts regularly that i will get bored and quit doing it. I love my aerobics step so i may do that one day and the elliptical the next...i try to do those then walking outside when its pretty..cuz thats so much better than the boring treadmill! So i say definately change things up!
