HIIT versus One-Pace Running
I have a treadmill and sometimes I jog for 30 minutes at one pace, and other times I do HIIT (my version of it!) for 30 minutes.
For those who run and/or do HIIT on the treadmill, what are your opinions on what burns the most fat, tones the body more, etc.? Just looking for ideas/opinions. |
True HIIT (not a modified version) is hands down the best. But it is not something everyone could or should do.
Intervals (which is really what "modified" HIIT is) is awesome!! I think this is better than steady state because you can work at a faster/harder level since you get recovery time thrown in. Studies have shown that interval workouts keep the metabolism revved all day as opposed to just during the exercise time itself. Steady state has its place. It builds endurance, for instance. I run endurance style runs now and then. But from a boredom factor and all the above reasons stated, I prefer intervals overall. |

I enjoy doing intervals more, too. I get super bored jogging for 30 minutes at one pace, and with intervals I am paying more attention to the time so I can switch up my pace (plus I am trying to recover from running so fast!!). It's good to know that interval workouts help keep the metabolism up throughout the day.
